Title: Update on my son Christopher
Post by momkaren on Jun 1st, 2011 at 8:59pm
Christopher had his surgry yesterday. It lastd 6 hours, 2 hrs shortr than expected. He had a rough night and rough day today. They are keping him in icu. His face and head are very swollen, eyes swollen shut. His sodium was very low today which was a big concern, it could lead to a seizure or stroke. The past couple hrs it has been stable. They are keeping him in icu another day or 2. They are also keeping him lightly sedated cause when he wakes up he is very agitated. Please keep prayers coming his way. It is so depressing and upsetting for me to see him like this. Thank you evryone.

Karen, I will pray.

God has brought Christopher this far and he won't leave him now!  You are in a wonderful place with doctors who know how to handle the issues that are coming up.  I'm happy to hear that they are sedating him so he doesn't have to be upset and afraid.

Good luck Karen.  My son had surgery in Boston last November.  He stayed a bit longer than normal in the ICU as well and the swelling was crazy!  He bounced back after a few days and was was good to go home.  I am sure Christopher will do the same.  Once he can get his eyes open and look around I am sure he will feel better and less agitated.
Let us know what happens.

Karen,

I have been reading your posts and keeping Christopher in my prayers.  My daughter had her surgeries at Stanford but the results are all the same.  The swelling is scarry but just know it does go away.  Glad to hear that all went well otherwise.  Keep us informed.

Luck and prayers,

Margaret
