Title: nocturnal seizures??? Post by tammy66 on Nov 3rd, 2011 at 12:53pm
My daughter, Amanda had a neurologist appointment yesterday to f/u w/ topamax increase and her headaches.
She had her bilateral pial synangiosis surgery in Boston March 2010. F/U mri;angiograms were good. Headaches have continued, so we are watching her on topamax. She takes 50mg now nightly, it was increased 3months ago. She has been waking me up in the middle of the night more frequently w/ things such as "i'm lonely in my room" or "I had a nightmare" and telling me she wet the bed, but when I check the sheets , they are not wet, it is just the underwear or pj pants and underwear, that has happend about 3 times the past month. So then I was wondering if maybe she had a UTI or developing kidney stones or is the medicine causing her to have weird dreams/behavior, or is it just that she's been watching scary things on tv before bed or talking to kids about halloween stuff? So I mentioned it to the doctor. He wants to get an EEG- says it could be possible she has nocturnal seizures. That it is common w/ mm patients that had surgery. She has been tired during the days, but she also has increased her activities, I have her doing more now. He was also suprised that Dr. Scott said to let her play soccer if she wants to and if the ball hit her in the head, treat her as you would any sports injury. I am taking her to the pcp after school today to get tested for UTI. Not sure what to make out of all of this. I never thought she could be having seizures!! Has anyone experienced this or seen this/heard of these symptoms with mm patients? Should I be doing something differently? Any help is appreceiated. Amanda's mom. |
