Title: Please help me to understand... Post by lovetoni on Jul 11th, 2012 at 5:03pm
To make a long story short, my sister (whom has down syndrome) had a few episodes where she passed out. After going for tests, it was confirmed she had moyamoya. She went for the surgery EDAS about a month ago. Lately she has been a little uncoordinated with her balance so my mother took her for some scans and it showed she as some fluid/blood on the brain. My mother gets very worried and becomes overwhelmed, so I don't really know how serious this really is. Is it common? How serious is this? Please provide some insight, thank you.

I remember right after my EDAS surgery when I was still in ICU, I had a drain tube coming from the incision. Nothing came out but it was there just in case. I hope the best for your sister.

Hi lovetoni
Obviously you have medical professionals looking after your sister who know about moyamoya because they opted for surgery. What do they say about the fluid? Is it a result of the surgery (possibly a pseudomeningocele) or is it further stroke activity (possibly hemorrhagic)? I'm not a medical professional, but these are the questions I'd be asking the pro's. Take care Mark (Luca's Dad) |
