Title: EEG results not good Post by Amit on Oct 16th, 2012 at 1:01am
ishan's neurologist just called.. He has his EEG last monday. We wanted to have his EEG taken, in the hope that it will be normal and we can hopefully reduce his keppra.. but unfortunatly the EEG report is not looking good and the neurologist suggested we continue with keppra for another year at least.. :( He has been on Keppra since Dec 2011 (time of his stroke) surprisingly his EEG was normal when he suffered his stroke on Dec 2011.. but then he had seizures and hence was put on Keppra..
We are worried because of keppra rage, and moving to a new medicine is also worrisome, since he has had no seizures after he has been on keppra.. :( Ishan has his pial synangiosis done in BCH when he was 9 months old (march 2012) .. Over all a sad day or us.. and as a dad its disheartening... :( |

My daughter was on Keppra and had serious rage. Her doctor switched her to Vimpat. She did not have seizures. It was more for headaches and some slight drooping of her mouth occaisionally. I understand your hesitation to change his meds but if you decide to ask about the Vimpat.

Thanks Destin's mom!.
Should we wait till we see some keppra Rage or practively try and move him to Vimpat. We discussed with our neurologist and he was saying that since keppra is working for him , (thankfully no Seizures, we should continue on it) ... We don't know what we ight be getting into with vimpat.. |

Hi Amit, I guess if it wre me I would stick with what works. Destin's mood with the Keppra happened within a few weeks of being on it. It didn't take long to know that we needed to change her. It doesn't affect everyone the same.
