Title: When do symptoms become a TIA?
Post by kath45 on May 21st, 2013 at 7:44pm
Hi - I know that I have definately had 3 TIAs when I had slurred speach and loss of movement left side but when do symptoms of MM become a TIA e.g. is only loss of hand control for 5 minutes a TIA or a symptom?  I get tingles and some paralysis every day - when do I call an ambulance because I think I could be having a stroke? I don't want to be calling wolf everyday.  Hopefully my operation is too far away.

Hi, When I had the stroke (bleed) which led to the MM diagnosis, I felt like I had a bad flu. I was tired, drained , generally a very sick feeling. I asked the neurologist about it and he said that was a common symptom. I've also had bouts of  temporary left side paralyisis practically all my life ( 54 yrs old) but the stroke left me continually feeling this way for days. Hope this helps and I wish you the best.

Hi, my son Benjamin just turned 15 in Jan 2013, in Oct 2012 he was diagnosed with MM. What we learned was that he had been having symptoms(TIA'a) since approx 2004-05. These symptoms included almost always left side paralysis followed by intense migraines, with a frequency of occurence around 6-9 weeks. This past Oct 2012 when he was diagnosed, he was started on the baby aspirin regimen. This by itself as been an answer to prayers, as he hasn't had a TIA since August 2012. Surgery is scheduled June 10th at Stanford. I hope this info helps. Sincerely Robert Britton-
