Title: Friend has Moyamoya. Trying to learn more Post by abvp on Aug 23rd, 2015 at 1:09am
She's in severe pain all the time. She has trouble walking. Almost died from a stroke in December. Nothing seems to help the pain but narcotics, but the government here restricts severely how much she can have, so she's still in pain. Has trouble sleeping. She's been fighting to get disability, but she's been getting the runaround on that too. She gets depressed a lot from being in pain all the time.
So, what can I do as a friend to be supportive of her? I'd never even heard of this before she was diagnosed. |

Greetings....
We find ourselves with a similar avocation at this point, and I'll suggest this report for the more technical aspects of Moyamoya disease..... http://jaoa.org/article.aspx?articleid=2093733 It's the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association. But I am not a doctor or medical professional, I am the father of William, age 42 now, a deaf man who had a stoke in 2013 and was then diagnosed with moyamoya disease. He's had two operations by Dr. Robert Mericle of HW Neurological Institute in Nashville, Tn, and is challenged at this point by serious, nearly continuous headaches, together with what I believe is called photophobia, but for some reason he still lives in the Sunshine State of Florida. And here is another resource that should help you: http://www.moyamoya.com/links.html Peace charles coryn |
