My wife recently had a STAMCA bypass performed by Prof Marcus Stoodley, who operates at Prince of Wales Public, Private and Dalcross Pricate Hospital (all in Sydney). Prof Stoodley had relevant experience in Stamford and in Chicago, and specialises in neuro-vascular surgery (amongst other things I think). Our neurologist  was very confident that he was the man for the job, and her confidence was well placed it seems - all went very well. Our neurologist is Dr Louise Allport, and she is also very good. She was better informed than the average (I guess) about Moya Moya (she had specialised in strokes in younger people), and she tracked down Professor Stoodley for us.

Hi, Based on your recommendation I have been able to email Prof Stoodley, who emailed me back straight away with an offer to review my test results if I post them to him!  I live in Adelaide, and as far as I know, no Neurosurgeons are offering this surgery here.

So far I am already impressed, I will keep everyone informed as to how I get on.

Hi again, we are really happy with Dr Stoodley, Jed had indirect method of left and right side, 2 weeks apart, and is doing really well.  We felt that Dr Stoodley treated us with absolute respect and he knows his stuff.  We had absolute faith in him, and still do.  We are wrapt...  Cheers, Nicola ;;D

I have recently returned from Sydney after having bilateral STA-MCA bypasses performed by Prof Stoodley.  

I cannot recommend him highly enough, he is fantastic, and is one of the only surgeons I have ever met with a great bedside manner!

I feel wonderful, my recovery so far has been as smooth as can be thanks to him and his amazing team at Dalcross Hospital.

Highly, highly recommended.  What more can I say?  He gave me back my life!

I realise your post is some time ago but I was interested in hearing from Nicola to see if Professor Stoddly performed surgery on her 4 yr old child?  I have a 12 yr old and we may have to return to Australia for surgery, from USA due to costs. Just trying to find the best surgeon for Combined Direct and Indirect Revascularization Procedure, that we have been told our 12 yr old will need.  Thanks in advance. Jane
