Title: Dr. Steinberg technique
Post by SweetEmily on Sep 13th, 2007 at 11:17am
Injured Buffalo Bills player Kevin Everett helped in recovery by Dr. Steinberg's technique used to help stroke and spinal cord patients.
Doctors are following the playbook in treating Buffalo Bills football player Kevin Everett's severe spinal cord injury except in one notable regard: pumping icy cold saline into his veins to try to prevent further damage.
Although the treatment is experimental, it is more science than science fiction, and also is being tried on stroke and brain injury patients.
"There are compelling reasons why one might want to try it" in a case like this, said Dr. Gary Steinberg, chairman of neurosurgery at Stanford University. He had no role in Everett's case but has tested the body cooling treatment.

Sweet Emily's mom,

Thanks for sharing the article regarding Dr. Steinberg's cooling technique. This technique has proven to be beneficial in a lot of different circumstances and medical situations.  This technique was administered almost immediately which proved extremely beneficial in Everett's situation.

Dr. Steinberg is a genuis in my opinion and thinks outside the box. He is not afraid to take things to a higher level.  He has saved many lives and not just those with MMD.  He gives us all hope. I wish more doctors where pioneers like Dr. Steinberg.  What a contribution he has made to mankind in more than one way. We are certainly eternally grateful to have had the opportunity for Kevin to be treated by the best.

Thanks again for sharing the article.

Hugs,

Lore
