Hi everyone
I was recently diagnosed with moya-moya amd am in teh process of meeting with different doctors in NY
I see that Dr. Connolly is recommended
has anyone heard or Dr. David Langer from St. Luke's Roosevelt?
or a Dr Mark Adelman from NYU?
or Dr SOlomon from Columbia?
any i nformation wil be extremely helpful

also is success rate of STA-MCA bypass ihgh?

Dr. Langer was my daughter Emily's neurosurgeon. She was four at the time of her surgery. She is now 5 1/2 and has made a complete recovery. I highly recommend Dr. Langer to anyone with MoyaMoya. If you'd like to email me at lorischnars@ctc.net for more questions feel free.

I’m sorry you had the need to find us, but sure glad that you did. Researching and asking questions is so wise when dealing with this rare disease, atta girl! Learn all that you can! If we can be of any help, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Every MM case is different because of each patient’s personal factors involved, but in general, if you have an experienced MM neurosurgeon, the direct surgery is very successful. For example, Dr. Steinberg, who is a MM specialist, he has done hundreds of successful surgeries with over a 95% success rate. I think that’s a phenomenal success rate. I can’t speak for the other doctors, but the facts are there for the MM specialist.

You’ll be in my thoughts and prayers.

just read your reply last night!
thanks for your great welcome (waving hand and all) and your encouraging words! :-), and for the stats
I have sent my films and reports to Dr. Steinberg and to Dr. Scott
I G-d willing have an appointment on Tuesday with Dr, Jay P Mohr at Columbia Presbyterian and will know next week if I need to have surgery or not - will then have to decide where to have it
in the meanwhile I am trying not to go crazy or too stress too much :-D
Thank G-d I do not have symptoms but would really like to know if I will need the surgery or not
