Title: Hello MM worriors, to share some encouraging facts
Post by Cherry (LuckyMe) on Feb 28th, 2017 at 2:08pm
To whoever still remembers me (and my ID) ;D,

Haven't been on this board for almost two years. Today (Feb 28) is the national rare disease day! It reminds me to come here visit my good MM fellows.

The reason I haven't come for a while, is because I was busy....I know it sounds like a terrible excuse, but it was the truth. I was very busy on living my life to the fullest as I can. I'm post both side bypass for 6 years, doing pretty good so far. Even though the stenosis has been progressed into my neck, but lucky enough, I haven't experience any new symptoms yet. I hadn't gone to MRI for almost 2 years, (I know I'm not good at checking up every year), I guess I just don't want to hear anything progressed again when I'm feeling good. Let me hide from all the tests and scans for few years without worrying too much about something I can't control.

Anyway, just want to share some of the things I have done in the past two years. I believe there are some encouraging facts here, that might give MM survivors and their families more hope towards future, to live a normal life post surgery.

Good facts:
-Post direct by-pass 6 years on both side. No major symptoms so far.
-Work full time in high intensity industry (IT).
-Did Sky diving multiple times without any problem (both indoor and jumping out from 15,000Feet high from the sky)
- Snorkeling multiple times. (so wearing mask should not be a problem as a long as not way too tight around temple area)
- Riding the highest roller coaster (90 degree drop) in 6 flag theme park every year.
- Finished running 2 full marathons and 5 half marathons with very good timing (speed), age group winner in one marathon. My track record was so good that I was officially became a marathon pacer for lot of the community running event. Qualified for 2018 Boston Marathon.
- Finished 200 miles non-stop Ragnar Wisconsin to Chicago running rely with my running team in 2016, and will do it again this June! It was so much fun!
- Training for my first Olympic distance tri-Athlon in July.

I just want to say, do not let MM limit your life. As long as you have good blood flow after the surgery, you can pretty much do anything (include high intensity sports) you want. Just give it a try with cautious, you should still able to enjoy life.

good luck my MM friends!

Cherry
