Personal Milestone!
Dec 16th, 2004 at 8:23am

Any runners out there? I ran my first mile post-surgery (Nov. 3)yesterday and I'm ecstatic! I was a big runner before I was diagnosed.  As soon as I was diagnosed, I was told not to run alone and didn't run at all out of fear!  A mile isn't much but it's a start and I felt great!  Just wanted to share my personal victory!!!

Hi Chelsie, Smiley

WTG Girl!! Only a runner can appreciate the joy of pounding the pavement for any length of time. I’m not a runner, but use to be an athlete before I became this old fart, (lol) and ran to keep in shape, but I have several friends who still run marathons, and love running as you do, but why I’m so proud of you is you’re not letting this disease hold you back from the joy of running, which no doubt is a part of you. Take it slow and listen to your body. Keep hydrated!!! That’s most important. Good luck, and again, I’m thrilled for your personal victory. Keep up the good work! Smiley

Good for you, Chelsie . . . I knew you'd be back to it!  I'm sooooooo proud of you!  May your good days far outnumber your not-so-good days!

Chelsie:

This is such good news!  My only regret is that I didn't get to meet you out in CA.  Sad   You may or may have not have known that I suffered a small stroke after my second surgery.  Fortunately, I'm improving everyday.  I'm walking with a cane now and I'm determined to walk without a cane one day.  Wish me luck!
