One down....update on Pasnblu (Sandi)
Jul 21st, 2007 at 1:41pm

Helllllooooooo - from SPA Stanford.
Saturday morning and awaiting release.  Had to stay a little longer than expected due to 4 post-op TIA's.  No biggie, my left side didn't want to cooperate throughout the first night, but by Wednesday morning I was sticking my tongue out at everyone that entered the room - what can I say - I am like Pavlov's dog. Tongue

The experience has been great all things considered.  I had no nausea from the meds, no headaches to really brag about.  Pain level never reached over 1 - 2 , except for the spastic sphincter thing.  Ouchy!

The staff was awesome.  Docs great, nurses are attentive and sweet.  Kathy, LeeAnn and Sharon were wonderful.  Kathy loves it when you cross your eyes when you stick out your tongue.  Ask Sharon about her pup - he is a cutie pie.  LeeAnn is a ball of fun even at 4 in the am.

Of course, Jill and her daughter Tara were wonderful,  Checking in on me to see how I was doing.  Joli was as well.  They are all so caring.

The step down nurses in B3 were great too and of course I can't forget Joann and her daily visits with the ice cold goop,  but the warm smile and heart.

Couple of small shout outs - to my ICU room mate (HIPPA prevents me from naming names - I am in HR Wink
To quote another Dionne song "I'll Say a Little Prayer for You"  Hope next week goes better than this week did for you.  I will try and keep the spirit up in ICU.  YOur family was so sweet.  It was a pleasure meeting you guys.

To my new buddy in South Orange County - thanks for taking the time to meet with me last weekend.  It was very helpful.  Hope you can make it to the BBQ on the 4th - aptly titled - Boya Boya I survived Moya Moya.

Dr Steinberg, Dr Lee....it was a God send to find you and be able to come here.  A truly blessed experience.   All of the docs have been great - wonderful bedside manner.  Hey all you female patients - just  heads up... I think HOT DOC is a prerequisite in the screening process Wink

I will be back for round 2 next Tuesday and will do another post.  My mom - who I think works for Kodak - will have some pics to post, so I will load them somewhere and provide a link.  If anyone knows where the Americas Next Top       tryouts are, let me know, cause there are some doozies in there.

Everyone take care!
Peace and Love

Hi Sandi,

Glad to hear your Stanford luxury vacation and spa package has worked well for you.

I see you're headlining at the Stanford Funny Bone Comedy Club this week and next. LOL!

Can't wait to see the pics!

Love your sense of humor!  I'm anxious to hear your next round of standup!

JoAnn the Doppler Lady is just terrific cold goop and all! Be sure to tell the Standford gang Lore and Kevin say Hi.

Hang in there! You're doing great!

Hugs,

Lore

Hi gang:

I wrote too soon!   I was discharged Sat at 12:30 and 15 minutes later I had a TIA in the car and was readmitted and am still here.  What can I say, they are serving Mac & Cheese for dinner tonight!!!!!!!!  Couldn't miss that.  I have had 2 MRIs since readmission (MRI massage - just another service they offer).  Couple little blips, but outlook seems fine.  Round 2 still on point for tomorrow -  I am hoping for the early show.  So I will be here all week folks -two drink minimum and please tip your waitresses.  Will check in on Wed or Thursday!

Keep the faith!
Peace and love

Sandi,

YOU are hilarious.  Keep your spirits up.  Be *oddly* thankful that you had your TIA 15 min away from the hospital and not thousands of miles up on a plane near Phoenix, like I did!  Wink  Seriously, I'm glad to hear that the TIA was nothing too serious.  I think it's normal to have a few small ones after surgery as the blood flow adjusts.  But they should always get checked out.

Be sure to get your hair serviced by JoAnn after your second surgery (she helps get the glue out of your hair if you ask nicely Cheesy).  Tell my buddy I said hello and that's she's slacking on her email correspondence!

So did you get to meet Dr. McDreamy?  You can't leave the hospital without at least a distant viewing of him.  I heard he is a full fledged member of the staff now.  Ask Ms. JoAnn about whom I speak of.  She'll know (by now, don't most of you reading this?).

As far as the meal service, my moyamoya buddy David always advises to check out the kids menu (better choices he says).  And if there's a two drink minimum, I say go for the fancy umbrella ones, don't settle for the cheap stuff.  If Sheak still works in B3, talk to him, and he'll make sure you get them.  Smiley

Keep us posted.

Hugs,
Trina

Hi Sandi,

TIA or.........just wanted more spa treatments? LOL!

Trina is right in that Sheak will take care of you.  Definately ask for the umbrella drink!

Get ready for the early show and I'll watch for your news update later in the week.

Hang in there!

Hugs,

Lore

Hey Trina:

Is Dr McDreamy Marco Lee?????  I spotted him in June, but I heard he is married.  There are a many doctors that are very handsome and kind.  They just all seem to kind.

But the last thing on my mind was flirting.  My head was about 3x bigger, I look like the great Pumpkin.  And my hair was mess.  Maybe when I go out for followup I will look better and make a greater impression Wink

Hey Sandi,

Sorry I haven't had time to reply!  Dr. McDreamy (and I'm surprised no one else chimed in here) is none other than Dr. Dodd, who is now officially staying on at Stanford (or so I heard).  He was chief neurosurgery resident when I was there two years ago, and then went on to do a fellowship at Stanford which just finished.  You may not have dealt with him directly but I always say, every patient HAS to have a glimpse.  Smiley  Unfortunately, the glimpse doesn't give you a taste of his charm.  Smiley:)

Hope you are better!

Trina
