Flying with moyamoya
Feb 27th, 2008 at 9:48pm

Hi just wanted to ask if anyone has had any problems with flying.   I am flying to florida with my 17 month old son who has moyamoya next week.   I am getting nervous.

Hi Amanda,
I asked that same question a few weeks and got a lot of answers so you might want to read them. I will try to post the right link  and hope it works, if not you can find it on the 2nd page of moyamoya related information and support

Also we checked with our doctor last month and he said he didn't see any reasons why our son couldn't fly so I am feeling reassured about flying next June.
Good luck with your travels!

FYI...I had to fly from Hawaii to San Jose in order to have my surgeries at Stanford without any problems (Not even a single headache).  As Lore said in an earlier message, "everyone is different" and each person's limitations varies from one person to another.  Though I'm not fond of flying, to get from one island to another, I really do not have much of a choice.  Then again, I could go by boat.....but I have a very bad case of seasickness  Smiley....I'd be very bad company in that case Smiley.  I know that I'd take my chances flying anyday.  Just had to add my Smiley.

Alohas....

Hi, there! Smiley

We've flown to Florida now three times, and once to TX, since my girls were diagnosed.  Our surgeon, Dr. Scott, said as long as the cabin is pressurized, it's ok to fly.  Apparently some smaller planes have fluctuations in pressure?  But he said that all commercial airlines have pressurized cabins - so you should be fine.

I hope that helps! ;Grin

Have fun in Florida!!
