Out of the hospital
Mar 1st, 2008 at 3:45pm

Well, I had bypass on my left side here at Stanford on tuesday 26th. I went from negative blood flow to an increase of 30% after the bypass. I was able to go back to the hotel yesterday afternoon. I am tired and feel like my brain is in a fog. I'm not sure if this is normal but I know it will soon pass and I will hopefully be back to normal quickly. I have some tingling sensation in my right foot. I guess that is what happens when someone pokes around on your brain. I am thankful to Dr. Steinberg and the other Stanford team. I've now started my journey to recovery.

Great news, Reagan! Be patient with yourself; at first it's a bit daunting dealing with the incision, washing your hair, sore jaw and such, but every day will be better and easier. Hard parts over and done. Hope you're able to come to the Las Vegas Reunion. By then you'll be full of vim and vigor.

Good to see you posting, Reagan!  You will feel better every day.  Unfortunately, it's sometimes a bit slower than one would like, but keep in mind that baby steps are just fine.  You looked so good yesterday, and your road to recovery is well on its way.  Hang in there and, as Kim said, be patient with yourself.

By the way, she (Kim) is the generous scrub hat benefactor.

Take care, and I'll see you next week!

Hello Reagan!

I'm so glad to see you posting so soon. You will do just fine.  As Jill mentioned, small steps, big strides. Take it one day at a time.  For my brother, everyday was a new day and a better day. I'm amazed at how well you all do after such a lengthy brain surgery! Bloodflow does wonders for the brain.

I used to say there were only two things in life that amazed me...airflight and childbirth.  Now I say there are three things in life that amaze me.....airflight, childbirth and brain bypass surgery!

Take it one day at a time, stay positive and you will do fine.

Keep us posted on your recovery.

Hugs,

Lore
