Stroke and Speech, Melody and Rhythms

Hi All,

Below is a link to a NY Times article about stroke and speech.  I'm posting it because some MM patients have mentioned difficulty with rhythms and melodies and music not making sense.  This article eludes to why some stroke patients have difficulty with rhythms and melodies.

Hugs to all,

Lore

Wow Lore, that’s amazing!! Thank you so much for posting that interesting article. I emailed it to Mark & Nancy right away, hoping to find out if any of this relates to Mandy at all. All these years and I never once thought to ask if Mandy could sing or had any trouble with rhythm or melodies after her strokes. If it does relate in any way, it just may help her. Thanks sooooooo much Lore!! Smiley

Love ya!

Hi Mar,

It would be absolutely marvelous if singing therapy can help Mandy.  I'm anxious to know if Mandy can benefit from singing.

Keep me posted!

Love ya girlfriend,

Lore

Fantastic article.  Confirms what I could see in my son's eyes the first time the music therapist visited him in ICU.

Wow what a great article. I am going 2 check into this music therapy. It said the perfect candidate is one with damage to the left side of the brain. Adri can say a few small words but knows hundreds of words & there meanings. She just can't say them.
Great info. Thanks, Danielle
