Kate's winning an award!!
Oct 11th, 2010 at 6:18pm

Hi, everyone!!

Just wanted to share my excitement with you....

Kate, one of my 15 y.o. twins with MM is winning an award tomorrow!

She is one of only 3 teens in the entire state of NH winning the "Champions Among Children" award - for teens who are living with a chronic medical condition, and have gone on to do amazing things and help others!!

She'll get a certificate, presented to her by the Governor of NH, as well as a $500 scholarship, and probably her picture in the newspaper!  (I'll include a link as soon as I can)

I'm so proud of her!! Smiley

Just wanted to share the good news!!

Kristen

Hi Kristen,

Long time no talk. lol!

Congratulations Kate on such an extraordinary award! This is truly a remarkable achievement and both you and your mom should be very proud. You have proved that one can go to the edge and one can fly.

Keep up the good work and I would love to see pictures.

Hugs,

Lore

Thanks, everyone!!

You're right, Lore - I have been slacking!!  I promise to try and be here more often.  This having three teenagers thing is kicking my butt!!  There is not enough time in the day!!  If only I did not have to sleep!!

Well, I will post pics as soon as I can.  Unfortunately, the governor did not show.  Something about urgent business calling him away - URGENT, SCHMURGENT!!  Sad

Anyway, it was still a special day, and we still made a big deal of her!!

It was kind of funny- we walked her down the street to this cute little candy shop afterwards, and there was a life sized cut out of Ronald Reagan in a shop window down the street - we made Kate stand in front of the window, and took a picture.  We told her he was the Governor's stand in!!  (of course, it was funnier to us than it was to her!!).  I'll post that one too!!

Anyway, thanks for the good wishes, folks!!  She's a good girl, and we're very proud of her!!

Can't wait for some of you to meet her, and her sister and brother in June!!  And for our old friends, we can't wait to see you again!!

XOXOXO, Kristen

AWESOME!  We have amazing kids - all truly 1 in a mil!! (see my post for Kyle's latest news)
I think our bragging is important for those whose children are young - so they can see that even w/ MM and possible setbacks due to it, the kids can still go on to lead very full, successful lives.
I have really been thinking about y'all - wondering how the girls are navigating HS, etc. (apparrenly pretty well!) So glad to see the good news!
Merry Christmas to you all!

The Governor of NH has officially forgot about me..

I get that he has meetings to go to.. but seeing his pictiure with other kids in the newspaper is just not cool...

Apparently I will have to email him once again, and hope his people will talk to my people.. (my people being my MOM)....

If he doesn't respond.. It means it is his loss.. not mine...
