My Daughers Neurosurgeon was Dr. Arno Fried.  He works out of Hackensack Hospital, and also St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick.  He is Excellent.  Best Wishes with everything.

I hope you can find a good surgeon. My daughter's surgeon was Dr. Scott who is one of the few specialists but does pediatrics. He is at Boston Children's Hospital. If you called his office I think he may be able to give you a reccomendation for your mom. I would definatly trust any reccomendation he gave. I hope your mom is doing well.

My husband's neurosurgeon was Dr. Jared Knopman at NY Presbyterian/Weill-Cornell.  He had EDAS on a Friday morning, left the hospital Monday afternoon, had stitches out 2 weeks later, and you can hardly see the scar.  We were very impressed with the ferocious intelligence, professionalism, expertise, and bedside manner of the  entire neurosurgery team at NYP.   Dr. Knopman is very young but he's very impressive.  Go see him before he gets older, realizes just how good he is and loses his down-to-earth demeanor.
