Rick,I feel for your son.I'm sure he must be very nervouse.I don'y have a teenage child but my daughter is 6 and had surgery a year ago. I can tell you both that without this surgery she probably would not be here today. We just had our one year check with Dr. Scott(who I can't go without saying is one awesome person and Doctor!).the results of her tests showed what he said was amazing new arterial growth.Kathleen also has had at least 5 strokes one was major and affected her left side. She was like an infant for a while but is now almost walking and useing her left hand a bit more. She is one determined little girl and that is what has gotten her this far.He can do it too!!! It is amazing how quickly they can recover from surgery( does he know how quick recovery is?). Kathleen was not in much pain at all after surgery. I saw progress in her very quickly after surgery (quicker than I expected). If I can answer any question at all please feel free to e-Mail me RGrace5@aol.com.Boston Children's Hospital was just awsome and took such good care of us and Kathleen.Dr.Scott is just such a caring Dr. and will probably put you all at ease.I'm not sure if any of this helps. Please keep us posted.
Mary
