Hannah had her second surgery and she looks better than the first one. She has no swelling on the side of her head. It is her second day and she still has 4 IV's, and a catheder. She is still in ICU, but will be out tomorrow. She had to have more hair shaven this time. She is still nausous from the anesthesia. She is expected to fully recover, and be as good as new. We also met another Moyamoya patient there too. Usually two days after the surgery Hannah feels pretty uncomfortable, but that third day is like night and day.. The surgery she had was to take a scalp artery and put it through a hole in the skull, and then attach it to the brain in a verticle patch, and then back out through the skull to the scalp. The skull is then put back together with small plates and screws. In the months to follow the new artery will grow new paths to the brain giving it the blood flow it needs. I hope this explanation helps those that Dr. Scott has as patients. I wish everyone the best as I have been through it twice with my own daughter.... Thank GOD we live only 45 minutes from Boston.....
