I read your story with interest. My son is 44 and suffered a stroke in Dec.,'02. His diagnosis was Moyamoya, but now the neuro-surgeon says he is re-thinking the diagnosis because of the involvement of only the right carotid. From your info, your involvement was initially only on one side, correct? Also, in your association with Stanford, have you heard of patients as old as 44 exhibiting initial symptoms of the disease? He is to undergo another arteriorgram in May to clarify the diagnosis. His recovery has been very good.
