Really bad week!
Dec 3rd, 2005 at 11:35pm

This week has been really hard on me and my family. In 2002 my 15 year cousin was murdered and after over three years the trial finally started this week. Its really hard on me because we are learning a lot of details we never knew and it feels like we rae reliving the whole event. One of the hardest parts for me is not being able to go to the courthouse. I am still in school this week and cant skip my classes because of finals and i also cant afford to miss work the on the other days. I hate being at school and work waiting to hear from my family what happened. I am hoping to work it out so i can go thursday and friday of this coming week because they could be getting closer to finishing and i will be there to hear the verdict if i have to leave in the middle of work. Sorry if i am rambling a little- i just really needed to vent a little i am really stressed right now and have cried all i can. Its just a hard thing to go through and it does not help to have finals this week. Thanks for letting me talk and hope everyone is doing well.

Hi Christy,

That's so sad about your cousin, and I'm sorry you're all having to go through such an ordeal.  Please give my best to your mom, and I'll definitely be saying some prayers for all of you.  Especially since you've had to wait so long, I'll hope justice is quickly served, then closure for your family follows.

Stay strong, good luck with your finals (Tara's in the middle of them, too) and know that your MM family will be thinking of you!

Hi Christy,

I too am sorry to hear about your cousin and all that you and your family have been through and are going through now.

It sounds as though you have found a way to relieve some of the stress by being at the courthouse on a couple of days. That will provide a way to support each other during the toughest time and you getting through finals.

Try to take a deep breath and realize you can't be three different places at once. You are juggling all three things (work, school and court) and 2 of the three will be over shortly.

Best to you on your finals. Continue to be strong. I know you will get through this with the help of friends and family. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Please feel free to vent.  Your MM family is here to support you anyway we can and that includes relieving stress.

Please keep us posted on how things are going for you with finals, work and court. We want to know you and your family are coping as well as can be expected under such extreme circumstances.

Hugs and prayers for you and your family.

Hi Christy -

I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin and that you and your family are going through this very tough time.  Please know that you are in my thoughts.   Just remember that this, too, will pass and in the end things will work out for the best.  Feel free to vent when ever you need!

Sending  hugs Smiley from PA.

Christy -

I know how sad and stressful this trial must be.   I went though this with a good friend 3 years ago.  Her daughter, a friend of my son's, had been murdered a year before that and then finally the trial.  It is SO hard to relive it !!  But with prayer and the love that surrounds you and your mom, you will get through.  Y'all are on my heart    Smiley    and in my prayers.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and thoughts. I really needed to vent last night and it helped. I am so happy and thankful for being apart of this wonderful family. I think the hardst part of my cousin's trial is learning and imagining all my cousin went through before she died. The guy on trial is charged with rape, murder, improper disposal of a body and a few other charges. It just blows my mind how people can do such horrible things to another person and what is the craziest is that this guy was only 17 at the time. He has taken my cousin's life and completely destroyed his own. Anyways, i will let you all know the verdict when the times comes and thank you all again so much for listening and being there for me. I love you all!!!

Christy,

I know it must be rough trying to balance everything going in your life at this time.  Wish we could be there with you, but please know that we are here for you nonetheless.  Please let your mom know that we're thinking of her too! (She is such a sweet lady..with such a big heart!  Smiley)  Whatever the verdict is, just know that justice will be served one day... Stay strong Christy, and try to focus on school and work throughout all that is going on right now.  I know it's not easy...  Smiley

Take care,
Shan

The defense rested on wednesday and yesterday started the dilberations after both sides did there closing arguements. we were at the courthouse from 9-9 yesterday- what a long day! Any way there is a chance that we could find out a verdict today so i am about to head back to the courthouse and wait some more. I pray that justice is served but we will have to wait and see. Thank you all for your thoughts and i will let you know when the verdict is in!

The verdict is in. The guy in my cousins case was found guilty friday of rape, aggravated child molestation, felony murder, abandoning a dead body, concealing a death, and tampering with evidence. The sentencing will happen some time this week. I am so happy that it is over. Even though this does not bring my cousin back and it still hurts I am glad that after three and half years he is going to be punished for his decisions. I feel awful for his mother who was crushed when the verdict was read but it really bothers me that this guy never once seemed to care about what he had done. It just blows my mind how people can be so cold hearted. Thank you all for yours thoughts and listening to me this past couple of weeks I really appreciate it! Love you all!

Hi Christy,

So glad to hear the verdict is in and it sounds as though justice will be served. I can only hope, that at the very least, they put this monster behind bars for the rest of his life. What a hainus crime! It sickens me beyond belief and for him to show no remorse?! Just unbelievable.

As a mother, I can't begin to imagine what it would be like to have a child do such a horrible thing.

I'm sure it has to be a relief for you to know the trial is over and now you wait for the verdict. With the charges, I have to believe the verdict will be harsh.

Hopefully now you can concentrate on getting some R&R and enjoy the holidays with your family, especially if your finished with your finals.

I am anxious to hear what the sentence will be.

Keep us posted.

Big hugs and you take care,

Lore

Christy,

I know I'm a little late, but I wanted to let you know that I'm pleased with the verdict, as well.  I still truly believe that his punishment is still to come.  He will still have to face the Almightly!

I hope that you and your family can now find some comfort to know that he will begin to serve his earthly punishment.

Hope your days will be better, Christy.  Please wish your mom a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year's for me!

Take care,
Shan
