Help me find a good home based business
Jan 17th, 2006 at 4:21pm

Undecided

Sad     Well, Thanks to moyamoya I find myself out of work, disabled and unable to drive.

I know that I'm not the only one in this situation and I'm hopeful that at least one of our 647 family members may be able to help me with a good suggestion for a business that I can work from my home Smiley

Please post me or e-mail your number to me and I'll call you.  My e-mail is tdgallucci@optonline.net

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Tom,

I am sorry to hear that you are out of work.

I have been working from home for about 12 years now - I used to be a draftswoman and gave it away because of stress ( I was working 60 - 70 hours a week and passing my husband on the freeway in the morning - he was going home from night shift and I was going to work!!) So we would see each other only at weekends. I would wake up in the middle of the night and write notes to myself of what I had to do on a drawing the next day - it was pure STRESS!! I gave it away and started doing calligraphy for people and graphic design and then Cayle came along, so I stayed at home to raise him ( he is a special needs child and he now goes to school full time). Then Chad came along - he is about to turn 3 so he is still fairly full on.
None of this really helps you but what I was going to say was, I have been thinking of what I can do to keep my mind alert and active and to bring a bit of extra money in (to finance my retail shopping addiction!!) and I came up with .....

Proof reading!!

In Australia, they are offering a correspondence course that you can take as long as you like to complete and then you get a diploma and they help you find work and you can do it freelance and on your own time. So you can do as much or as little as you wish. With a teaching background that you have (you are a special needs teacher aren't you?) you should have a good grasp of vocabulary and grammar, and it will keep your mind sharp.
I am sure that  you would have something similar in the US and you can earn good hourly rates etc..

What do you think - do you think something like that could help?

Thank you so much Moira for your suggestion.  To be honest, I've never heard of that as a home based job but I'll definately look into it and let you know.
     Thanks again,   Tom  Cheesy

Hi Tom -

I am working at home right now with a custom frame-making business.  Before this, I have spent much time trying different things (was a social worker for 20 years, taught school for four, have a real estate license, etc.)  But wanted to be at home and available to our daughter Kate with MM.  Another home-based occupation that you would probably enjoy, being a teacher, would be tutoring.  I have several former classroom teachers who are doing this now here in Dallas and making good money.

Hope you soon find what you want.

Hugs,

Cass
