2007 REUNION
Aug 29th, 2006 at 5:38pm

WHEN ARE WE GONNA START DISSUSING NEXT YEARS REUNION ???????
I'd like to see how many would like to do a 3-4 day cruise ?? There are alot of Ports besides Florida and remember ALL FOOD and Entertament is FREE and SOoooo much room where WE would all fit and really be able to VISIT and you not only have the fine dinning (which is AWESOME) but the Buffet is Nice too and Pizza 24 hours a day and the Midnight Buffet Cheesy I thought if we did it out of a port somewhere in the middle like Virginia or New Orleans some people could drive and leave there cars at the port (to save money) I do know they have really good large group rates.... Smiley Just something to think about Wink

We enjoyed Disney World soooo much I can't wait to plan for a 2007 convention!!  I am a little worried about doing a cruise thing only because I have a weak stomach Smiley and I would not want to spend the whole time in my room!!  But I will try if that is where everyone wants to go...as long as we get to visit again!!  Is there anything along the East Coast to see??  Alot of us have been to the West Coast (Stanford) so maybe we could find something along the East coast?  Yelowstone National Park in beautiful, maybe North?   I am with you Elaine...lets start something for 2007!!!  Any suggestions guys?????

Elaine,

Thank you for bringing up our 2007 gathering.  Actually, Steph and I have done a lot of talking and checking into things and we've decided to get together on the River Walk in San Antonio, Texas in 2007.

We're also looking at moving the date up a couple of months (more toward the end of June), but will post more details as soon as possible.

Looking forward to putting an absolutely wonderful gathering together for everyone and hope this will be our biggest and best yet!  More to follow...

As always, comments and suggestions are welcome.

Remember the Alamo!!! Smiley

Do you think its gonna be real hot there like Florida...by day three Mandy's legs started to collapse when she got out of the wheelchair and we had to leave the park, she was very lethargic(sp) the first two days in the sun too, although I must admit Mandy has many more issues than most and has a weaker tolerance(sp). Just my thoughts.

I am with you Nancy...I am about tired of the heat!!  Kansas City has had the hottest summer and to think about being out in the heat just makes me hot!! I looked up the River Walk and it looks like another amusement park and stuff, but if it is where everyone decides to go then we will just have to find the fun stuff to do ;Grin.  I personally would rather go some place cooler or to a beach somewhere Wink  But I do not want to be the 'stick in the mud' Tongue  Just my  Smiley

I've been to the river walk a couple of years ago it is not amusements its a lot of fun we had a great time there its a river that runs down in front of the hotels and stuff and theres shops and resturants along there and a certain day of the week, I don't recall which, its like mardigras they have a parade and people are dressed in some costumes and wear lots of beads and it goes down either side of the river which is where you can walk you can also take a gondalier(sp) ride down the river and during the parade they throw beads out to people its alot of fun and fine for the kids even though people are drinking. Just a pretty short walk away from the hotel we stayed in was the Alamo and a wax museum with stars in it, it was fun however we were there in Feb and it was between 70 to 75 degrees but hot in the sun, in the shade later in the day a light sweater was o.k. but this was Feb. Just a little info. on it I'm sure others have been there from this site or live near there with some info.

Smiley I'm up for for anywhere too, and I think it is good to do different places, just think in 50 years WE would be at everybodies state  Cheesy  I'm ready for Hawaii  8) But I still think a  3--4 day cruise would be alot of fun for everyone Smiley and if you think about it WE would have soooo much time to spend with each other (since you can't leave the boat till it docks somewhere) AND for those who think they would get sea sick,,,,,,I went deep sea fishing 2 times in my life 13 years apart once when I lived in Calif. and once in Florida , in Calif. I just laid on the floor and thought I was die-ing, In Florida I took dramarine (??) the night before and early that morning (SICK--SICK--SICK) So I was a little afraid to go on the Cruise, but my daughter said Mom you don't even know you are on a boat because it is SOoooo big 8) Now I have to tell you ALL I LOVED IT and have been trying to get my kids and grandkids to go, all the grandkids would Love to go Smiley however none of my kids would trust me, afraid I'd let them fall overboard Roll Eyes So maybe we could think about it for another year Wink

Personally, I LOVE the idea of a cruise!  A few of us talked about it as a possibility last year.  The comment was made about being far away from medical help (if it was needed) though, and I think that's a very valid concern.

River Walk, here we come!!!  Maybe we can pick a cooler spot (Seattle???) for 2008.

Just my  Smiley

Colorado was nice too we were there before, that was nice we hit a warm streak in Jan it was 65-70 it was perfect another 2008 option. Here we are 2008 and we didn't even do 2007 yet, jumpin the gun we are. Aren't cruises really expensive? Wherever it is it should be fun Orlando was alot of fun even with the heat. Seeing all the MM people was incredible to me and kind of sad, for a moment, but yet incredible that we all were there as strangers for the most part but all for the same thing. I agree with whomever said it..... the people were amazing and it was like you've always known them.....what an experience...I think if we met in a mud hut we would enjoy and really appreciate the coming together of so many families and making one big one. I enjoyed everyone there. Supurb job D.J. and Steph. and that Conner is so cute. It surely was something to remember!

MUD HUT MUD HUT!!!  Just kidding...I agree with Nancy, we could meet in a mud hut and it would be just as fun (a little messy, but what's a little dirt ... I've stayed in a mud hut and it's not so bad).  I had a great time just hanging in the hotel room and hospitality room, drinking all that capri sun (I think I had at least 6 of those), just being with everyone.  So wherever it is, it is...I'll hopefully be able to make it, whatever the date is.

Hi, everyone!!  Just wanted to cast my vote!!

I agree, that anywhere would be fun as long as we're together!!  However, I do think a cruise would be kind of risky - I know we wouldn't  go, only because the strokes have caused one of our daughters to be extremely impulsive, and being in the middle of the ocean, on a floating building, the only thing separating them from falling overboard is a railing with space between them?  Too much tempting fate!!!! Also, even though there might be doctors on board, if my daughters were to have any medical issues, I'm stil not comfortable enough to be that far from a hospital.

So, any city that involves dry land - count us in.  As far as the heat - heck, anywhere in June is hot!!

DJ and Steph, if we can do anything from our end to help, let us know.   Thanks for all of your hard work.

We can't wait to see everyone again! Smiley

Love, Kristen

OK, I'm a bit prejudiced 'cause I'm from Tx, but San Antonio is a GREAT place to visit/have fun!  There is an awful lot to do and the Riverwalk is very unique.  There are LOTS of hotels/suites to choose from at every price.  As far as amusements, there's Fiesta Tx (a 6-flags park), SeaWorld (our fav), a children's museum, great shopping, the ALamo, wonderful resturants, fantastic margaritas.....And within 50 miles, there's the incredible Natural Bridge Caverns and a Wildlife park.  Oh and the San Antonio Zoo is also terrific!
But you definitely want to plan it in June - August is WAY TOO HOT!!!

I am sooooo looking to take my first ever cruise....if that is what everyone decides on. If it is the Riverwalk.....then maybe "2008" could be a cruise. And it seems many here do not like or tolerate heat....(like me) and I just want to throw an idea out .....

How about an Alaskian Cruise....same great food and fun.....just certainly not as hot as a Carribean Cruise and a lot more nature and contrast!

My hubby was never interested in the thought of a cruise, as boats have always affected his stomach. I don't like small boats.....but I think I'll do fine on a huge cruise ship...(sort of a small plane compared with a jumbo jet....you really don't feel the motion) So.....a cruise without hubby or the kids.......hmmm.....YEP...I'm IN!!!!

Let me know when I can start packing!

Now....hanging out in a mud hut with Trina.....sounds like a lot of laughs too......hope she doesn't mind that I SNORE.....   Smiley Smiley Smiley
