Member Map feature

The numbers for those of us in this "Moyamoya family" are small.  We are definitely "few and far between".  It would be nice to have a visual "quick reference" to where those of us on this message board live by looking at the Member Map feature of this board.

Right now, only 25 of 57 registered users of this board have put their "pin" on the member map (19 in the USA, 1 in Canada, 3 in Europe, and 2 in Australia).

Even if you don't want to put any posts on the board, please, at least put your "pin" on the map where you live!  Whether you're a sufferer or a supporter, let's try to get a better visual picture of where we all live!

If nothing else, it could at least help people who find this site in the future find a doctor in your area who has experience with Moyamoya, and possibly save their life!

To place your "pin" on the map, simply click the "Member Map" icon at the top of the board.  From there, click the "Add your location" button at the bottom, right hand corner of the box.  When that new window comes up, choose your map (USA, Canada, Europe, etc).  Once the correct map is displayed, move your mouse over the left hand part of the box to the approximate place on the map where you live.  Your mouse will turn into a "pen".  Click on the approximate location of the map where you live, then click the "Save" button in the bottom, right corner of the box.

Let's get a better idea of where everyone is and maybe have the chance to schedule an actual meeting with those of us who've been through the trauma of dealing with Moyamoya someday!

Thanks for helping add to our worldwide Moyamoya family!

If you have any questions or problems adding your "pin", please don't hesitate to email me, or send me a PM.

I'm looking more into trying to put some kind of meeting together and I'm looking at the member map to try and figure out where the best place to organize something would be.

As of today, only 49 of the 112 people with profiles have added their pin to the map.

Can those of you who haven't added your pin try and add it so we can get a better visual picture of where we all are?

If you have any problems with the map, please let me know...

DJ

Hi DJ,

My sister Patty has mm (41 then, 44 now) and has had the surgeries.  She lives in Clinton Twp, Michigan.  About 30 miles north of Detroit.  I could not get my computer to 'pin' our area.  Could  you do it for me.

I will get her to her where the party is

thank you

Janice

Well I added where my mom is on the map....Spokane, WA.  But am I allowed to put another location on the map, where I'm at in WV?!  I wasn't having any luck trying to add another one.  It just kept changing from WA state to WV!!   Smiley

joni,

Sorry, it will only let you put one "pin" per profile.

I put my pin where I am located, not where my father is.  But I am not sure which is more helpful.  Oh well, maybe someone else in my family will register and stick a pin on for Philly.  Goodness knows this site has enough people from Philly to represent the area!

Has anyone checked out the Member Map lately?  It is growing, slowly but surely.  I encourage all of the folks who've found us in the last year to make sure and put your "pin" on the map!

The member map is an excellent and necessary resource.  Notice how many MMers live in Texas, Florida and Pennsylvannia.  If everyone would "pin" the map, we would have more meaningful numbers - might even help with research/statistics.
Thanks again to DJ!!!
Best,
Roni

Hi all,  Smiley

I thought it time to "Bump" this feature to the top, to encourage our new family members to add themselves to our "member map." It may help so many in the future.

Thank you! Smiley

Hi all, Smiley

I was just asked by a fellow MMer from the guest page if I knew of any other MMer's in their state, and when I looked on our map, I saw that many registered members are still not registered on our map.

Those that have not placed their pin on the member map, PLEASE take a minute and do so? It's so very helpful. It could help someone down the line.

Thanks!

Mar,
Thanks for pointing out the map.  First, I had never noticed it before...I don't know how!   Second, I added my city.  It is a great reference, I am happy you pointed it out!
Thanks,  ;Grin
