levee break in Stockton, CA
Jun 8th, 2004 at 6:38pm
Anyone hear about the levee break in  San Joaquin County?  A major levee broke last thursday, and the gap grew very quickly to over 300 ft long, and has flooded approximately 11,000 acres of farm land.  Crops that were just harvested, or about to be harvested, or crops that were in the middle of the growing season were destroyed.  The company I work for is among one of several that are working on the levee to strengthen it in other areas to protect other land and houses.  More evacuations came last night as high winds and high tides came back again, more erosion had many fearing another breech might occur and cause more flooding and damage.  The levee that broke was connected to the Sacramento River I believe, so  you can imagine all the water that is coming in.

Anyway, this is what has been filling my days...very busy at work lately.
