Fundraising for Connie-need help
Jun 22nd, 2004 at 11:39am

I have been talking with Connie about her surgeries, and her insurance issues and my mom and I have been thinking of different things to help her.

After speaking with Connie today more in depth my mom and I have decided to fund raise where we live (for the next 2 wks).

We have had the chance to meet Connie at Stanford before Holly's surgeries, and it was a great pleasure to spend time with her.

We will be working with her to write some information about her and to send it to some local people where I live, we will work actively to help Connie, to raise funds for her and her surgeries.

If anyone can help her, please PM me ASAP, she has touched a place in our hearts and we feel very strongly the need to help her.

If anyone can help with fundraising, or ideas, or donations, please contact me....If you want my phone number, I will PM it to anyone...

Thanks Everyone!!!
Hillary

Dear MoyaMoya Family,

I have been working so very hard on fundraising for my Stanford surgeries. I have inquired about the costs for surgeries and have found some pretty big numbers. But, I am pretty ambitious.

Just to update, I have inquired about alternative health insurance (not yet United Health Care-though I don't know if they offer coverage in California) but have been denied. I am awaiting a response for SSI disability claims or Medi-Cal insurance.

I have been sucessful with finding communal support out here. I have a number of events being held in the bay area including parties, barbeques and hopefully, some benefits. I'm really trying and after seeing David, Brent and Holly this Monday, I am so inspired to have the necessary surgeries.

love,
connie

Hi Connie

As far as I know, UFGH Hospitalization is not available in MD and NC.....UFGH Healthcare is not available in VA.....United Family Health Care is available in every other state according to their advertisements.......If you have not contacted them yet, it can't hurt to do so.......Just so you don't have to find the prior thread, the website is www.unitedfhg.com and the phone number is 1-800-250-9396........they apparently accept all pre-existing conditions; there are no limitations on usage and no age restrictions......I have a friend who has coverage through them, has dealt with them extensively and she is very pleased with them.....I can give you her e-mail if you want...she would be more than willing to help you....Warmest regards, Pat Smiley Kiss

It's great that you are having success raising money and the website with your info on it is a really good.  I would like to try and help you out.  My church really got behind me and are very interrested in Moya Moya since my surgery.  If you could give an address I can probably raise some money here.  Goodluck and God bless!

One More Thing,

For the rest of the board who may be interested. The local newspaper did a nice article on my condition and moyamoya in general. Please check this site out:

http://www.theargusonline.com/Stories/0,1413,83~1971~2278162,00.html

I hope that everyone is well. In the meantime, I'll also be on the local radio station Wednesday, July 28 (to promote the fundraiser) and I can't wait to refer people to this website.

Love,
Connie

Connie,

hope you are doing well today.  did you know you answered a prayer today?  I've been praying about where to re-direct monies that we have been giving to a friend who is a missionary and is soon joining the Amer Baptist mission board on an assignment in Bangledesh.  She & her husband no longer need outside support.  I got your address and will be sending some money to help with your surgery expenses.  In the big picture, its not a lot, but, hey, it adds up!  We were blessed to have had very good insurance coverage for Kyle's hospital stay & surgeries.  (the therapy afterward is a different story.....) but God has been good and I truly believe in sharing those blessings.

God be with you,

sue

Will pray for continued blessings to fund your surgeries and success with those surgeries!
