How soon can Cara fly home?
Jun 29th, 2004 at 3:30am

My daughter's surgery is on July 14th and we have plans to fly home to AZ from Rochester, MN on the 18th. I realize it varies from one patient to another.  Will be flying two planes...any suggestions on keeping her comfortable.  The time is approaching FAST.

DJ - I would like to send a picture of Cara to use for my profile and for all to see right before her surgery. Where should I send it to?

Have a great evening everyone !!!

Carol,

Cara should be fine to fly home as soon as she's out of the hospital.  There's no restrictions on flying after surgery.

As for the picture, you can send it to me at:  Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

I agree with DJ, flying home is no problem. The only time Tyler had trouble with flying was when we had to jump on a plane 3 hours after getting the staples out that went across his temple.  Smiley
Tyler tells everyone that will listen to never get on a plane after getting staples removed from your head.
He loved flying to and from the surgery though. We just got a few weird looks, although I made sure to have his staples covered for the flight home. Smiley Some people just like to stare.

Rena, this is precisely how I feel right now.  I told my hubby that I look partially like Mrs. Frankenstein and will be the full Mrs. F when all is done Embarrassed.  I am hoping to visit the cancer center at Stanford  before I leave for a cute bandana or something to hide the scars.  I am such a reserved person and do not care for ANY extra attention.  My hopes are to be healed and ready for work on 8/9.  Hope all is well and my prayers are with all MM sufferers and survivors!

Kristina,
I was surprised at Tyler's reaction at being stared at, he would stare just as hard back at them. Smiley I had thought he was shy, but the staring just made him mad enough to be rude back!

Here's something that surprised me though: At the airport on the way back, Tyler still had 17 staples in one side of his head, a woman comes up and said, "Did you have a bad fall on your bike?" I can't figure out what kind of fall on a bike would cause such scars?  Smiley But at least she asked instead of staring.
