Cara had her STA-MCA bypass and encephalomyosynagi
Jul 20th, 2004 at 10:17pm

We got back from the Rochester Mayo on sunday the 18th after Cara had her surgery by Dr. Fredric Meyer on the 14th.  She had the STA-MCA bypass and the encephalomyosynagiosis.  It was scary watching her face swell  by the hour.  The surgery was on her right side and she experienced some difficulties on her right side, too...which means her left side is being affected but is improving fast each day and is good to be home.  The surgery on her left side will be on August 23rd.   Since the left side has been supplying to the right side...I have a feeling the surgery on the left side may be little bit harder  but will pray that all goes well.  Smiley

The swelling is very scary to watch and it seems to take forever for it to go away. However you are half way through the battle. Hang in there and it will all be behind you before you know it.

I'm Tara's dad - she had her surgery in June 2004 at Stanford.  Her swelling was when her left side was done, but I understand it's very common on either side.  All we were able to do to measure time and "guess" when the swelling would go down was to watch her bruises at her IV sites.  The "I'm no science major" guess was that the swelling would go away at about the same speed as the IV bruises.  It seemed to hold true.  Tara is now doing well - your Cara will be doing well shortly.  Please give our family's love to yours.
