Update on Lisa (twin information)
Aug 15th, 2004 at 5:29pm

hey!

i wanted to update everyone on lisa.  she is doing wonderful.  they let her go home yesterday! she has made such incredible progress that her doctor came in and said she could go if she wanted too.  the only thing is that she can not do anything for 2 weeks.  at the end of 2 weeks she will see dr. rose and he will remove her stitches and do a couple of office tests.  if everything is ok she can go back to work and start running again.  of course she is under strict guidelines when she starts.  in 6 weeks they will do an angiogram and see how everything took.  dr. rose believes that the artery that he got from her temple was big enough that it might supply enough blood flow to the other side.   everything for now is great news and seems to be really good.  but with mm it seems everything is a waiting game.
i also wanted to let you all know that lisa is an identical twin.  and we found out yesterday that her twin laura has it as well.  she has no symptoms, but because they believe that it is genetic they checked her anyway and they found it on both sides.  they believe they caught it early enough so they might just have to put in a stint, but we will know more on that next week.
we will continue to keep everyone updated.  we have taken lots of pictures and recorded a lot of information through this process so that it might be a benefit to others.
thank you all so much for your prayers and thoughts.  they were needed and still are.  feel free to ask any questions.  she wants to help if she can!  we will continue to keep you all updated.

Hi Charmin,

Thanks for the update. That's wonderful news that Lisa is doing so well. We can't ask for more than that, our prayers were answered once more. I bet she's glad to be home too.  It's all down hill from here. Smiley

I find it very interesting that Lisa has a identical twin sister and both have it. Wow, we're learning more and more every day about mm. I think this is a first on the website too. Andy Mac, from London has twin girls, but only one has mm I believe, and I don't think they're identcal twins. Now we know a little more about genetics and mm though. I don't have mm, but I am a identical twin and I know from our health experiences, that we're genetically identical, so all this all makes sense to me. I pray all goes well for Lisa's sister as well, and I'm so glad she was checked before any symptoms, because as you know... from what we've read, mm is a progressive disease in most cases, so this is good news that it was caught now.

It's wonderful that you're sharing your experiences and knowledge with us. We really appreciate that, you may save a life on here. Bless your heart!

Hey Charmin, one more thing...I've just been dying to say this cuz I'm goofy sometimes...lol.. but if you're not as old as me, you may not know about Mr whipple, and may not know what I mean, or you may get it all the time, but anyway... hope you don't mind.
Please don't squeeze the Charmin! Just had to say it...lol

Take care...

Mar

Ditto thanks for the update on Lisa and SO HAPPY she got such a good report!
Very good news, too, that her sister was dx'd b4 symptoms.  I hadn't heard of the possibilty of using a stint in cerebral arteries - is this new?  Sounds like it would be MUCH better for the patient!  Will pray that all goes well with her treatment and we look forward to getting good news on Lisa in 6 weeks! Smiley
