Mike, Debra & Chris...

It's going to be a long day for you. Since we can't be there with you for support, please know we're all there with you in spirit. You've got the best doctor in the world, in my opinion, and Chris is such a champ, so with all that... I'm sure all will go well and you'll be home in no time and Chris can get his Krispy Kreme goodies.

Please keep us posted, can't wait to hear...

Mike,

The first surgery wait was the longest, most painful day in the world for us.  We can empathize as only someone who has been through this can.  Know that Chris is in the best hands in the world - Dr. Steinberg also saved our daughter's life.  We'll be praying for everyone today:  Chris, Dr. Steinberg and the hospital staff, and especially you, as you endure the long day.

Keep the faith, and please give an update when you can!

Yahoo!  Chalk up another one for Dr. S and the Stanford staff!  I'll bet that he came out and told you that Chris "behaved himself" during surgery, huh?  We had a good laugh over that statement in our daughter's case!

Congratulations on jumping a HUGE hurdle!  The next 24 hours may be a bit uncomfortable, but Chris is on his way to recovery.

Many prayers and happy thoughts will continue to come your way . . . .

Wonderful news !!!!  I know the first surgery was the longest wait for us for when Cara had it July 14th...they kept us posted on the hour.  Will be going through it again for the other side on Monday the 23rd....I hope she isn't gone that long this time.  I dressed in paper surgical garp...walked alongside her operating bed to the operating room (the Mayo is HUGE)...many many operations going on....then they transferred her to the operating table...I held her hand while they put her to sleep...was like about 11 ish (I had one thing on my mind...Cara...not the time)...in tears I walked back to my husband...we went out to lunch...came back ....got phone call with update reports on the hour.....until 430 the surgeon talked to us ....explained it went well, being closed up as we talked...but was not until almost 845pm she was brought back to the ICU to us....was due to the mild stroke and they wanted to monitor it even closely.

So expect some "upheavals" throughout it all...including swelling, possible black eyes....but Cara's swelling and bruises were just about gone after few days (the major of it).  I thought she looked worse 24 to 48 hours ...then got better (up and down days).

Will continue to pray for Chris's speedy recovery !!!

hugs,  carasMOM

In my previous post above I meant to say they are tremendous at Stanford, not trendeous, I thought maybe you all thought I was saying Dr.S wears trendy clothes or something HAHA, just wanted to clear that up. Thanks brat for noticing.
