Donna, I am sooooo glad to hear things are looking better! What a long rough road.I'm not sure if you got to read my post on another one of your threads but We did ahve a similar thing happen with Kathleen only it was before her surgery. She had had 2 strokes at the time about a week after the second one we thought she was having another. She got very lethargic was crying uncontrolable, wouldn't walk or talk.We took her to the ER and by then she had a fever after some blood work they said she had a very seriouse infection and did a spinal (never want to go through that again with a child!!!!).They put her on high doses of iv antibiotics. They never did find out what the infection was she just got better. We truely believe she probably picked it up durring her stay for the stroke the week  prior to it. It scared the heck out of us not knowing what it was.Continued prayers for your family and  Jareds continued recovery.Thank you for the update I've been wondering how he was doing.

Wonderful NEWS !!!!

Cara came down with the stomach flu today and I was thinking about your post...Jared being sick and  Mary Graces post about Kathleen being sick....so I was thinking I wonder if Cara picked up a bug while in the hospital last week...so was on the look out...but after one "vomit" moment...she seemed to get better.  I told my husband what you guys went through...and he said oh...we can't fly her back to Rochester if we needed to !!!!  Guess just will use the local hospital instead should that happens.   Thanks for posting !!!

Hugs,  Carol

Hi Donna,

My niece was diagnosed of MoyaMoya after she complained of headache. She was 10 yrs old then. Every one was so sad and we had no clue what this disease was all about. Started reading about MoyaMoya and I was devastated. She lives in India and we did  not have enough funds to get her here, so ended up doing her surgery in one of the best hospitals in india (Hinduja hospital) she had both her left and right side surgery , they were done a week apart. Her first surgery went well and they decided to do the second surgery and the day after her surgery she had a stroke , couldn't move and couldn't talk. The stroke happened in her sleep.
She was on physiotherapy and speech therapy and by gods grace her speech has come back 87% but not full, she is still not able to write with her right hand since she had a left side stroke, is able to walk now.
I am writing her case history in order to keep you aware of the what could happen after a surgery.

The best thing is that , if you get any indications as numbness, seizures or even lip drop , get in touch with the hospital and get him checked up. There are medicines that can prevent stroke from happening if given at the right time. I only wish if we could have got any indications in my niece case.

I am really glad to know that Jared is back home. Pray for his good health and fast recovery. I feel for all the members of this message board and pray for all their family.

And I am so happy and thankful to DJ for  having created this site, which is a good site for any  infomation on MoyaMoya - thanks DJ - what a wonderful work!
