Hello everyone

Just wanna know if anyone else is experiencing this, or is it just me and my old age?

My hands, even my fingernails have been hurting and tingling.  It had made them numb and it is difficult for me to eat and grasp things.

I am taking tylenol for it, but it still hurts.

Can anyone relate?

I still have brief periods of additional tingling/numbness in my hands/fingers occassionally (in addition to the permanent loss of feeling I had with my original stroke prior to my first surgery).

It only happens briefly every several months so I don't worry about it too much as long as it doesn't last any longer than the usual 15-30 minutes each time and the feeling returns to normal.

If the lack of blood flow is causing your dizziness/tingling/numbing, Tylenol probably isn't  going to help much.  If you aren't going to have surgery, you might want to check with your Dr's to see if some kind of blood thinner/aspirin therapy might help.

I know you've been at this a long time, but permanent damage isn't fun to deal with, ESPECIALLY when there are options that might prevent permanent damage.

Cara's mom,I didn't know that high levels of blood glucose could cause narrowing of arteries. Would this cause more of a concern for someone with MM?? Kathleen has down syndrome and is at a much higher risk of Diabetes. We have her tested when they test her thyroid.Just couriouse if there is a greater concern because of the MM???Maybe she should be tested more than just yearly.It's still very hard for ehr to communicate how she feels so we rely on testin a lot.

Mary Grace: I am not sure the relation with MM and diabetes.  But the symptoms for having High Glucose Level...would be thirsty all the time, frequent urination, very dry mouth, blurred vision, fatique, weakness, sleepiness and pain or tingling in feet and legs.   I have the driest mouth ever, went to the bathroom 20 times a day, vision was awful, tightness in feet/legs and hands and felt like I had a awful flu.   My blood glucose level was 530 !!!!   Normal range is 80 to 120.   Anytime someone is doing something that is not normal...I had to get up several times at night to go to the bathroom...I normally sleep through the night and go in the morning....but didn't connect that to diabetes until I got REALLY sick.   My body doesn't produce insulin...so have to give myself that to bring the level down to the normal range (not simple as I have to count the carbs and give my self just enough but not too much insulin or else it'll drop too low).    Im sure Kathleen's doctor would check for whatever is needed  You could bring that up at her next appt. but if she doesn't have the above symptoms then she probably isn't diabetic...sometimes goes on for a while before its really noticable.    My sister was very thirsty, drinking lots...when she was a child...turned out she had leukemia...so symptoms could be anything.
