Thoughts for CarasMOM
Jan 23rd, 2005 at 9:21pm

Just wanted to let you all know that Carol's dad had a stroke yesterday morning.  (He doesn't have MM, but is older with other physical ailments.)  She pm'd me late last night, and I didn't see her message until this morning.  She was afraid he might not be around much longer, and mentioned she may have to be away from this board for a little bit of time.

Anyway, I just thought everyone should know so we can send some thoughts and prayers her way.  She has been wonderful in offering her support to so many of us, and I know it will mean alot to her to get some of it back in her time of need.

Hugs to everyone,
Jill

Thanks so much for your kind thoughts !!!  It was an heart attack that triggered the stroke on his good side of the brain which bleed as his blood was very thin...when 911 came he was aware of what was going on...when mom asked him to say "Hi Nancy"...he did...but as the bleeding continued...he went into a deep sleep...the doctors say that there isn't much they can do except keep him comfortable...giving him 48 hours...but when they couldn't wake him up yesterday...they said he's in a coma...and to proceed on to hospice which is where he went last night...a matter of time before he passes on...while it is very hard to take...he's been waiting for this time and wanting to be with Karen (been gone 30 years), my sister....but sweet Cara has been what has kept him going.  The doctors have told Mom that he will never be back to what he was the day before stroke...been finding myself looking at old photos of Dad and thinking so much about how many different variations of diseases of the brain there are besides MM....and the valuable purpose of its function.  I'll be back soon...tight hugs to all of you.  CarasMOM

How I need a hug. Embarrassed
As I write this post, I have my dad's wedding ring on one of my fingers that was just removed from his hand.
The good lord just took him about an hour ago.
Last night I knew something was going to happen.
I hugged one of my favorite pictures of him and me.
And said the longest prayer including telling him what
a wonderful father he has been.
Now he is at peace.

Have not told my kids yet...but will when they get home.
The funeral will be back east in Maryland....he'll be buried next to my sister on the Eastern Shore.

Thank you so much guys for your kindest words, thoughts and prayers.

Carol,

Please remember that your loss is shared by many friends here who care. We prayerfully remember your father who has returned home to the peace and happiness of God, and our prayers are that you and your family find the courage to face tomorrow in the love of family and friends that surrounds you today.  Smiley

Carol,
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your father.  Please know that we all here are sending our prayers and sympathies to you and your family. Try to find comfort in the knowledge that you will see him again one day and he is at peace with your sister.  Be joyful also that he will continue to look down upon you and your family and will be very proud in the fact that he has raised a daughter to become a very strong and compassionate woman.  Carol you continue to give encouragement to those here in this web site even in one of your darkess hours and it has not gone unnoticed-you truly are a remarkable woman! Smiley
All my prayers,
Kathleen

You guys are amazing !!!!  It is so heartwarming to get all these wishes, thoughts and prayers.  We're all making plans, figuring out things and getting organized for the trip on top of the daily routine.  I take off on Thursday morning and get back late Sunday night...hoping no snowstorm crosses our paths until we return to AZ.

Many thanks again and again,  CarasMOM
