Exercise

I'm curious to know what doctors have told some of us older members with MM about exercise after surgeries.

It's been 3 months since my surgeries and I want to start exercising.  In a way, I already have been at physical therapy, but I want to start exercising more...not just at therapy.  I'm pretty sure I'm not able to do weights yet or resistance training, but would like to do cardio.  Or if anyone knows that weights are o.k., I would like to know that, also.

Thanks,
Michelle

Until you go for a recheck I would probably go easy on the weights but I was riding and exercise bike a week after my second surgery.  I just got back from my recheck and was cleared to do heavy weight lifting again.  Dr Stienberg's nurse Teressa just told me to start slow.  Hope this helps.

It's not how much time we have that matters. It's what we do with the time we have.

Hi Michelle,
I would ask your doctor what he suggests, but from my personal side of things, I had 2 STA-MCA bypasses in 2001, had my second child in 2003, and after that I joined a gym. I go 5 days a week, and do 2 weight training classes, 2 cardio classes, and a personal training session. After my particular classes, I then do some more cardio in the form of treadmill and cross trainer. So I do about 1.5 hours every day, and I have had no problems -
Hope this helps
