Heading for Stanford
Feb 25th, 2005 at 10:40pm

Hi All  Smiley,
I will be leaving for Stanford in the morning, they have a pretty full schedule for me starting Monday, First the transcranial doppler then meet Dr. Steinberg and his staff, then later on in the day my MRI.  Tuesday first thing is the xenon test, I have to admit I am a little nervous about that test, I hope it isn't to bad  Smiley.  I hope to meet Jill and her family while I am there, Jill and I have already spoken a few times and she sounds like a very kind, sweet person so I am excited about that Smiley.  I will try to keep you all posted on my progress while I am out there, I was told there are computers that I can use through out the hospital so when I am up and around I will let you know how things are going.  The first surgery is scheduled for March 2 and the second on March 9, then if things go well I can come home on March 20th, so please pray for me so that I can get home to my girls as soon as possible.
Take Care,
Kathleen

Kathleen.....you are in my thoughts...starting right now...until you get home to your girls !!!!!!  I've got goosebumps from reading your post.  Wink.  It is the hardest to leave your kids by but know you have them set up in good hands....just take care of yourself out there...you will also be in great hands.  Know you will LOVE Jill (who I haven't met but she has won my heart many times over via personal emails) ...and Tara and Campbell.  March 20th will be here before you know it...til then....tight hugs and safe travels tomorrow...CarasMOM

Kathleen,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you embark on this journey to Stanford.  I know it all seems very terrifying to you, but it really isn't too bad.  You will find true comfort in the fact that Jill will be there for you and your girls will be there for you in your heart.  I will look forward to hearing good reports from you and Jill.

I'd like to share with you a prayer that got me through my surgeries and I said everyday while I was out there.  It's called St. Theresa's Prayer.

May today there be peace within.  May you trust your highest power that you are exactly where you are meant to be.  May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.  May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.  May you be content knowing you are a child of God...Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.  It is there for each and every one of you.

Kathleen,

Our family is going to Stanford tomorrow, and we are  meeting Dr. Steinberg on Monday, too.   (our 16 month old daughter is having surgeries for Moyamoya).  Daphne's got testing all this coming week.

When is your surgery?   Daphne is scheduled for March 8 and March 16.

Best of luck, Kathleen!  I'll be thinking and praying for you - for a speedy recovery.  It does seem frightening - I agree with Michelle - but she's right - not so bad now that I look back on it.  This too shall pass - it's just something you have to do and you'll be strong through it.  Good luck!!!  Sending hugs from Philly (cold huggs - brrrr - it's snowing!) Smiley
