Daphne's Surgery Update
Mar 10th, 2005 at 1:06am

Little 16 month old Daphne (mom's screen name is "kotipup" ) had her surgery at Stanford yesterday.  She had an indirect bypass done on her left side.  All went very well, and Dr. Steinberg emerged with a very positive update.  He made his trademark saying . . . you guessed it . . . "she behaved herself"!

This is awesome news for Daphne and her  parents.  (Remember in an earlier post her mom Jenny reported that Daphne was sent home under hospice care following her MM diagnosis.)

Please continue with good thoughts and prayers for them as Daphne recovers from surgery #1 and prepares for surgery #2 next week.  I'll keep you posted as best I can!

Hugs to everyone,
Jill

Daphne's second surgery was yesterday, and it was another success!  Of course, she "behaved herself" (hee-hee!).  Her mom, Jenny, said that Dr. Steinberg briefly considered doing a direct bypass, as the artery on the right was so good.  However, he stuck to the original plan and did the indirect.

So,  now it's just the course of recovery, and eventually home for this family.  I know they are grateful for all the good thoughts and prayers, and hopefully they'll be back on the board soon. Maybe they'll even get some pictures up - Daphne is ADORABLE!
