Hi.... I've read a little about burr holes. I am just curious, though, why burr holes? I beleive the most effecive surgery would be a direct STA-MCA bypass. Or, if not, an indirect bypass. I am definitely no expert, but I remember - during my research for my daughter who has moyamoya - reading that multiple burr holes was really reserved, now, for those patients who did not have a suitable donor vessel to do either a direct or indirect bypass. Also I've read about it being done alongside an indirect or direct bypass surgery.
I would be leery about anyone wanting to "experiment" with a surgery, unless they had very extensive experience and it was the only option available.
I don't know what your options are, but if you can afford to, you might consider going out of the country to have your surgery. As you probably already know from this site, Dr. Steinberg, here in the US, has tons of experience. I'm sure there are other doctors in many other countries (especially in the Asian region!) who have extensive experience, too. Personally, though, I'd be afraid if a doctor started talking to me about experimental surgery where I would be the giunea pig.
Good luck... let me know if there's any way I can help (moyer305@comcast.net.
