Tommorrow is my big surgery day
May 18th, 2005 at 5:52pm

hi everyone

tommorrow morning at 9am i go in for my first bypass surgery- with KAISER in anaheim, CA...with Dr Vanefsky-
i haven't heard much about him on this message board but in the community i have, so i feel safe. I'm really nervous....scared. But i know i have to do it....I shouldn't have started reading through some of the posts on here where people have died of complications- really sad/sorry to hear about that. I just need to think positive...this procedure usually goes well, right?

any post surgery while in the hospital or at home tips and advice - would be appreciated!!!!

please keep me in your thoughts tommorrow.

thanks again for this message board...

Shanna,

Best of luck tomorrow.   I'm sure things will go well for you... keep us posted.

My daughter had surgery this March (at 17 months old).  She'd had two strokes before being diagnosed with moyamoya, and so was at a very high risk for surgery.  She is doing great, though.   No major issues, at all *knock on wood*.

When you get a chance, let us know how you are doing.

Thanks,
Jenny

Good luck tomorrow, Shanna!  Although, as my daughter would say "We don't do luck!".  My thoughts and prayers will be with you and everyone caring for you tomorrow.  Please let us know how it all goes when you can!

Warmly,
Jill

I was misdiagnosed with MM in March of 2005. In January 2006, I was told it is not MM, but rather a massive restriction in the MC1 segment of my left carotid artery.
