For the many new mmer’s who come to this website for information, and are scared and know nothing about this disease, as I did, I have to say again, for them, that moyamoya does NOT throw anything like a viral infection at you!!
MM is a cerebrovascular disorder. Unfortunately there are people who have other things associated with this disease, but not a viral infection in respect to being associated with moyamoya.
There are many websites where you can read up about viral infections and see that a viral infection can be as simple as a common cold, so yes, you can have a viral infection along with mm as with many other common problems, and yes a viral infection can possibly effect you and your mm. For instance, you could get dehydrated and it could trigger problems, fever, etc, but the facts to date are,
a viral infection is NOT related to or the cause of MM from any research to date. The cause of MM is uncertain, so to imply mm is related to or in association with a viral infection, without stating what viral infection it's associated with, and the facts, is misleading to people learning about this disease.
I hope you can see why I’m concerned. Some of the most serious communicable diseases known to medical science are viral in origin. Viruses are spread from one person to another. So, I hope you can see how that may frighten new people coming here for MM information.
Yes it's been said that some of the following conditions are associated with mm: Like... Meningitis, Down's syndrome, Sickle cell anemia, etc, but that does NOT mean that they were caused by mm, (or vice versa) but rather associated with mm in some individuals.

I am currently still fighting one according to my blood work and my surgeon. I am going on a 5 day anti-biotic called k-pack i believe is called.
I'm also confused about the above statement. I'm sure that
every person has had a viral infection at one point, but certainly NOT because they have moyamoya. Also, as I've read, antibiotics are useless against viral infections.(??)
MM is a terrible disease and my heart aches for the problems you and others have suffered, God love ya’s! I pray one day soon we will have all the answers, but for now, with it being so rare and not clear to the medical community, I feel we have to get the information out there as accurate as we possibly can to help others as well.
