Light headed and dizzy.. Tia or Seizure?
Jun 17th, 2005 at 12:56am

I have moya moya I am a 19 yr old and i had a indirect bypass done december 04. A few days ago i was sitting at my computer getting ready to sign when my head got really shakey and then light headed/dizzy. The shakey went away but the dizzyness lasted for atleast 30 min. It was so bad I would get dizzy if i just slighty moved my head forget about walking. I curled up on my moms bed and layed there for an hour. It took after about an hour i was able to walk and was sligh jittery but for the couple of days after this episdoe i was tired/exhausted. My primary care says its sounds more like a TIA but wasnt too shure. Can anyone offer advice on what this sounds like or thinks i could have possible sufferd????? Smiley

I was having the same things happen on a pretty regular basis until the docs got my meds adjusted correctly.  And yes, after I had one of those episodes I was always left exhausted.  The docs could not really tell me either if it was a TIA or a seizure, but they did tell me the ultimate goal is not to have either one.   So that is when they kept trying to give me different meds to keep them from happening.

I know that is not really the answer you are looking for.  Did your doc prescribe any antiseizure med to keep the TIA/seizures from happening?  It may be worth checking on if you keep having them.

Yes I have been on anti-seizure meds for months now. I am on trileptol and im taking 600mg's a day. More then likely my nuerologist is going to give me 900 a day with would be 300mg pills three times a day. I have never had this kinda episode before were i am light head/dizzy and exhausted. Anybody else with possible answeres please feel to write

My neurologist has prescribed carbatrol and I take 500mg in am and 500 in pm.  They said the carbatrol is a better delivery system for me.  I wastaking tegretol and tegretol both at 1000mg day.  Back when I was taking the tregretol I tried lowering it and the seizures/Tia's came back with avengence.  So, 1000 seems to be the magic dose amount for me.  You and your neurologist will need to play around with dosages to find out which is best for you.

Good luck getting the seizure/Tia's under control.
