Believe it or not, it's finally time for surgery.
Jul 13th, 2005 at 4:58pm

Roll Eyes  Some of you probably know me and my story,  I had a major stroke 3 1/2 years ago and was immediately diagnosed with moyamoya.  I've been on this site almost from the beginning and have been cooresponding with and reading about my fellow moyamoyers surgery stories.  I have been told that Ididn't need surgery because of very good blood flow and being asymptomatic for the last 3 years.
After undergoing a battery of tests at NY Presbyterian Hospital, last week, I was told that there was a definate decrease in blood flow that could be contributing to my extreme fatigue and some other slight problems and now EDAS surgery was finally recomended.  can you believe it?
My doctor is DR. Connolly whom I feel is as good as anyone.  He played it conservative and only recomended surgery when the "risk/benefit was right.

My surgery date is August 15th and I'll keep you all posted.

Stay well love ya all,   Tom G.

Best of Luck Tom!  I'm sure you'll do fine!  From what little I have read from you, you seem like you have a positive attitude, which is sometimes half the battle..You will be in our prayers, everything will work out. How has your recovery from your stroke been?  Just curious.......    Pat (Kelsey's Dad)  ----  FEllow S Jerseyian

Good luck Tom!  I will be thinking of you before, during and after your surgery.  I just know you will do great.  Hang on to your positive attitude and you can get through anything.

By the way....was it you who suggested a get-together for those of us in the Eastern US???

Hugs from Ohio~

Good luck, Tom!  Sounds like you are on the right track and are confident with your decisions thus far.  That's a really great feeling!  We'll be thinking of you through your surgeries and recovery!  Good luck, again!

Wow Tom!   Smiley  After I picked my jaw off the floor I almost cried!  I am so happy that you are finally having the surgery which hopefully will help you to feel better both physically and mentally.  No more "time bomb" feeling! Smiley

I am sure you will do wonderfully with the surgery but you will be in my prayers, as always,  as you continue through this MM journey.  Please see if someone (your wife?)  can post with updates after your surgery.

Keep those spirits high!

Tom,

Sounds like you've got it all under control and waited for the right time to have your surgery.  I just recently had mine about a month and a half ago and am so grateful for DJ and this wonderful site.  Please know that we are all here for you and look forward to hearing about your progress...

Take care,
SFH

Hi Tom,

Wow . . . amazing news after so long!  I'm sure you're not looking forward to the surgery, but like Lisa said "no more time bomb feeling".  I'm glad to hear it's scheduled, and will look forward to your updates on the whole process.  Of course, your MM family will be here for whatever support you need!

Hugs from out west,
Jill

Hi Tom....I remember your posts where you even mention...scary to be reading about those getting surgery when you can't, you were always wondering if it was the right thing to wait.  Like all of us we always felt something would happen any time if our child, spouse or even ourselves didn't have surgery.  You have our prayers...while you have your surgery on the 15th.   Many of us will be in Vegas...we'll have a group prayer for you then.

Warm Hugs along with lots of prayers,  CarasMOM
