Marathon!
Aug 24th, 2005 at 7:53pm

I just found out the other day that a friend of mine will be running a marathon in Kathleen's name. It's Running to End Strokes.it will be in Disney in January. She's setting up a web site I'll let you know what the address is when I have it.She'll have a picture of herself with Kathleen. kathleen will serve as her inspiration and has already been more than inspiring from what she ahs told me.In tlaking to her I told ehr how I took Kahtleen to the school playground and she decided to run the 300 meter track(they do this for gym class),well she made it all the way around with her brother and wanted to do it again but her brother said no way he was tired. Diane(the runner) e-mailed me that she had just run her first 5 mile run and she was getting tired but thought about Kathleen running the track and actually ran  5 and a half miles! I'm very excited to hopefully have a way to get the message out of what caused her strokes,Moyamoya.(I'll need to get my facts in order, any help is welcome.....) I have a Breakfast to attend in a couple of weeks for "Stroke Hero's".

Mary Grace,

That gave me goosebumps !!!! ;Grin....how inspiring !!!!  I can picture...one of these days your Kathleen WILL run marathons herself.  Even 10K races are awesome...ran several myself...gosh what a workout, but felt great afterward...and once you are a regular runner you thrive on running, get a wonderful uplifting feeling from it.   I wish I can go back to running...darn nerve damage won't even let me run "yet"..been almost 4 years...takes a long time but am still working towards it.  Maybe besides Cara...Kathleen can inspire me too. ;Grin.  Keep us posted.

Carol

I have had the diagnosis for one-sided MM since 2001 with no permanent damage so far. I started running pretty soon after the diagnosis and finished my first marathon last year and did the second this year well below 3 hours 30 min. I can understand how emotional it can get during the run especially when one has decided to do it in somebody's name.  Smiley

Mary Grace,

What an inspiration your little Kathleen is!!!  She is such a role model for all of us!  Please give your friend a BIG  Smiley for me for doing what she's doing and running the marathon in Kathleen's name.
