My surgery was  pushed back again
Sep 10th, 2005 at 9:18pm

Sad
Ready for a good one?  well here goes.
This past Wed. I had a wonderful meeting with Dr. Connolly  he took the time to answer all 29 questions that I had for him about my EDAS surgery scheduled for Monday Sept. 12th.
I left there totally confident and psyched that this was the right procedure and he the right surgeon for me.
Five minutes after I walked in my door I got a call from his secretary, Pat  Informing me that Our insurance had no out of network benefits and thus would not pay for the surgery.  Pat apologised because she was out for a month and a half with emergency surgery of her own and the Pre-cert work that she would normally do, never got don by the temp.  Don't go away there's more to come!
I was frantic and besides my self but after a 2 day battle Pat and I got the surgery approved.
Pat called me and happily announced that the surgery was approved and that I was still on schedule for Monday morning.
Ok here it comes. 15 minutes after that call of good news, I got a call from my wifes brother telling me that my father in-law had just died Sad Sad from a long battle with cancer.  No I'm not making this up. Smiley  The funeral is Monday so there goes my surgery (for Now)
After many calls back and forth Pat informed me that they were having scheduling problems and that D Roll Eyesr. Connolly was going on vacation Roll Eyes

So I'm having the surgery but I won't know until monday afternoon, when it will be.   Smiley Angry

You can't make this stuff up

O well I keep you informed  Take care  Tom Gallucci

Dear Tom,

Oh my gosh, it never seems to end, does it?  I'm sorry for the battle you've gone through with insurance (but glad the outcome was positive!), and sorry the surgery is pushed back.  That's hard, especially when you're feeling ready from an emotional perspective.  My sincerest condolences to your wife (and all of you) on the loss of her father.

Well, we'll be there beside you . . . on whatever date your surgery ends up being!  Hang in there, and please keep us posted with the new schedule, o.k.?

Smileyfrom out west,
Jill

I am so sorry about your loss. The surgery will come. Your family will be there with you and you will do well. Everything happens for a reason, though I must admit that many times I don't understand the reason. Please know that you have our support, not to mention our prayers.

Hang in there..................Kathy

Hello,
Luck really does come in different shades. Sorry, for your loss and your surgery being rescheduled. There's alot of emotions that come along before surgery and I'm sure you've started them, and now it's going to be a little longer then expected. Stay positive about the surgery it is going to come. For your family and yourself take care of each other in this time of need.
I hope you and your family the best.

Oh, Tom, I'm so sorry for your loss and for the delay in your surgery.  The waiting is the worst!  I whole-heartedly agree with what Kathy said - everything happens for a reason.  Hang in there!

Tom,
I am dumbfounded along with you! Shocked  What a pain that you have to wait....longer than you already have waited.  I am terribly sorry.  As everyone else has said, it is the waiting that can really get to you.  I mean, if
brain surgery
weren't enough, right?!  Why are you given more challenges to overcome!?
You will be in my thoughts, Tom.  Try to stay positive about everything to come; do not become defeated. You sound too strong for that.  Good luck with everything and I am so sorry to hear of your brother-in-law's passing.
Take much care,
Stephanie

Tom,

My sincere condolences to you and your family for your recent loss.  I also send blessings and comfort your way as your surgery has been postponed.  I know you were probably psychologically ready for it to take place this Monday.  I know that sometimes it feels like "when it rains, it pours..."  Trust me, I too am weathering a storm, but I know that there will be some sunshine soon.  Wink  I try to listen to my doctor's adivce.."take one thing at a time."  So for now, as long as Dr. Connolly feels comfortable with postponing your surgery, try not to worry about it...  Stay strong... Keep the faith... We're here for you, Tom.  Cheesy

Take care,
Shan

Tom,

I am so sorry to hear about your father-in-law.  I'm wrapping my arms around you right now and giving you a BIG hug.

I'm also sorry to hear that your surgeries are being pushed back.  Try not to think about it and let us know when they have been rescheduled.

I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, hon.

Tom:

I didn't know about the precert issues!  I spoke to your wife yesterday, and she told me about her father.  My condolences to you all.  Hang in there regarding the surgery -- it'll be over sooner than you know it.  Be sure to keep us updated on the rescheduled appt.  I will try to make it out there while you are in the hospital if I can.

Talk to you soon!

Tom....oh my...I know somewhat how that is...we've had it VERY rough on our end too...just as Cara was doing little better, my dad passed on jan 05...then my father law passed on five weeks later...then so many things started to fall apart....so I feel for you.  Will keep you in my prayers...by the time you have surgery you'll be ready.   Wink  Carol
