Hi Roz,
Your post frightens me.

The numbness in your thumb reminded me of the numbness I used to feel before I had my double bypass in May. I used to get feelings of numbness in my fingers, especially my left ring and pinky fingers. The numbness would also come and go, but the further my MM progressed, the longer the numbness would last. I remember when it first happened, at least 6 months before I was properly diagnosed, my neuro at the time said that I probably had carpal tunnel and not to worry.

Regading the grey outs you described, my mother is undergoing testing for the exact same symptoms! She said that it comes and goes and is so brief that she has been ignoring them.

She said that it is like a grey sheet that covers her eye for brief periods of time, but she actually cannot see anything during that time. Her internist sent her to an eye doctor, but as I looked it up online, I told her to please go and see my neuro. In fact, her eye doctor recommended she have an ultrasound on her carotids. The ultrasound showed "floating" soft plaque in her carotids, and a recent MRI/MRA did show many TIA's (like over 10!)

and 2 small aneurysms! It did not show MM. She just went to have major lab work done, and we are awaiting the results.

I don't want to worry you, but I'm just wondering why your doctor isn't worried about the numbness or intermittent spells of grey outs. Did he/she say why?
Roz, as I mentioned, I personally only experienced the numb patches, but that was pre-op and I believe due to the occlusion I had on the right side of my brain. I would highly recommend asking your doctor why he/she's not worried about it. I'm not a doctor, so maybe they have a valid explanation, but I'm just concerned...that's all. If you still don't feel "right" with his/her answer, I would definitely seek a second and/or third opinion from MM specialists to see what their take is.

I truly feel that our body gives us warning signs that we need to take heed of.
Hope this helps, Roz. Please let me know how things go.

Take care,
Shan
