Headaches reappear because of work?
Dec 7th, 2005 at 9:09pm

Dear All,

I have experienced continuous headaches these two days. The headaches are similar to those a week after my surgery, mostly on the right side of my head. I've also had very short black out or dizziness occasionally, sometimes repeatedly which I have never had before.

I have read that some of you have had worsening headaches. In my case, I am wondering if it is because of my mental work? I was fine, headache-free, and have started working for about a month. My work is a kind of a think-tank, research and strategy. But I don't work as hard as I used to before the surgery, and tried to take rest anytime I felt tired. I walk and practice tai chi everyday.

Have anyones had similar situations? Do we have to switch job to something more physical than mental works?

Ha

It's funny you should mention that.My daughter had her strokes 3 yrs ago and mental work totally exhausts her still.I have very concrete proof of this at school now because we're doing her Tri-annual review which  requires very extensive testing.I've been sitting in on the  testing by the school psychologist and she has been doing amazing for about 30 minutes but after that time anything else becomes useless. She's wiped out for the day almost. You can see the progression of her exhaustion, she starts to yawn, drools a little more, her eyes  get red and watery her face gets flushed and she starts to lean to her left and has a ahrd time sitting up(her most affected side from the strorkes).I've been tryin to tell everyone at school that she gets more exhausted than they can even imagine but now I have some real proof. I'm not sure if she gets headaches because she never tells me if anything hurts.i think any pain she has she just thinks it's normal.I've seen her hold her head and cry and she'll tell me "I'm fine" every time.

I just went back to school to get my BS in Chemistry. I waited 2 years to do that. I went back to work and complained of bad headachs as well. So my nurologest prescribed me a migeaine supressent that I take daily and one that on an onst of one I can take that. I works for the most part. I still have my bad days and need to go home and sleep for hours. On the bright side the daily headachs are gone and school is going fine after I had sone time ajusting to thinking agian.

Take your time, Do not rush your recovery. You'll get it back. You may just need some help to get there.
Hope that helps.
