Surgery scheduled with Dr. Steinberg!
Dec 16th, 2005 at 5:05pm

Hey everyone!  Just giving an update to yall! My surgery has been scheduled for January 10th with Dr Steinberg.  I'm kinda excited!  Is that weird?  I don't know, I'm not really scared.. I'm fascinated about what is about to happen more than sadness or being scared.  My mom, thats another story- she's been bawling her eyes out.  But, I don't know I see this as a learning experience, and HEY! I get a trip to California LoL Smiley  Hope everyone is doing well!

Hi Mike,

Great attitude! You are in good hands with Dr. Steinberg and the entire Stanford MM team and I am confident all will go well.

Let your mom know we are here for her as well as you and if she or you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Keep us posted.

Hugs,

Glad to hear that you are moving forward.  You are in good hands.  I did not have my surgery with Dr. Steinberg, but many here have...and are a testimony of his God given talents!  You will be in our prayers.  Please let us know how things go.  We're here for you, Mike.

Take care,
Shan

MIKEY!

You have an excellent attitude!  I kinda had the same attitude as well - trip to California, learning experience.  You are in great hands, and I wish you the best next week.  I understand how your mother is feeling though - my mom was the same.  She had all these flowers that had been part of religious services in my name (it's a hindu thing) and she was doing mantras holding the flowers over my head while I lay in bed the morning of my first surgery as five different people were hooking me up to machines, IVs and what not.  It was quite the scene.  But, she hung in there, with the support of family and moya moya'ers like JILL!  Smiley  Please let your mom know that we're here for her.

Some pointers while at the hospital:
1-ask for the children's menu, it's better than the adult menu.  Smiley  Cheese pizza is always better than bland roasted chicken in my opinion.
2-flirt with the unit nurses.  It works.
3-always walk around at 6am if you have energy and are wide awake.  It flips out the residents when they can't find you.

Please keep us updated on your progress.

Best wishes,
Trina

Trina - you are so funny!

Mike - best of luck on Tuesday!  I'll be thinking about you...Tuesday will be a lucky day, I can feel it!  (I have to go to court that day...long story).  Anyway, good luck and sending a speedy recovery your way!

Mike-

Wanted you to know my thoughts will be with you tommorrow. Dr. Steinberg is great so you will be in great hands. Dont feel weird about feeling kind of excited I was too a little bit. I was probably a little scared but I also found it kind of crazy that i was having brain surgery. Having a good attitude helped with recovery so keep it up!!!

Hi Mike,

Ditto!!

Glad to hear your surgery went well.

I saw Jim's post and it sounds like you all have made new friends and are supporting each other well. It's a great thing with the Stanford MM support network.

You have a wonderful staff of folks at Stanford taking care of you and you will do well.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Hugs,

Lore Smiley
