1 year anniversary for Mark Rowland
Jan 5th, 2006 at 9:10pm

Hi everyone,
Haven't had a chance to get on the site for quite some time.  Today has been one year since Mark had his 1st bypass surgery done at Stanford by Dr. Steinberg.  I remember very vividly when after hours of gut wrenching waiting, Dr. Steinberg came out with his prominent gait.  He approached my wife Lisa and I and said "Everything went well and Mark behaved himself."  I had a hard time getting to sleep last night just thinking of what my son has endured this past year and a half.  And thinking of all the wonderful people that we have met that have the disease or that help treat the disease.
Mark still has his days with headaches and dizziness and some other odd stuff.  But he goes to work everyday and is living a full and active life.  He is my Hero.  Thanks to all of you for all the support and back at you all.

Hey Mark, Ron & Lisa!

Kudos to Mark for doing so well!  And to you, Ron & Lisa, for enduring along with him!

It's funny that you just posted tonight, as I think of you all often, and am glad to know that you all are doing well.

If possible, perhaps you all could make the Princeton, NJ gathering?  I think we'd all love to see you.

Please PM me when you get a chance.

Lots of hugs and best wishes,
Trina

Dear Ron, Lisa and Mark,

That one-year marker is HUGE!  I remember how we felt when Tara (well, all of us!) reached that milestone.  It feels GREAT, doesn't it?  Just kinda puts the whole experience that much farther behind us Smiley.

I don't hear Dr. Steinberg using that wonderfully endearing phrase "He/she behaved himself/herself" much anymore.  I think we'll have to convince him to bring it back!

As I've said before, I look back at our personal experience, and it still seems somewhat surreal.  In some respects, it's hard to believe we've all come this far.  At any rate, I'm with you - EVERYONE going through MM surgery is my hero!

Big hugs to all of you,
Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley

Hi Ron, Lisa and Mark,

Long time no talk to! Where have you been?  Smiley

I have been wondering how you all are doing. I still remember our first meeting at Stanford when Mark was there for his check up and Kevin was beginning the journey. You were the first MM family we met. So there is another first. Mark making that one year milestone has to be a great feeling and especially with only some slight symptoms. Way to Go Mark! Smiley Keep up the good work!! Balloons, Confetti and fireworks for Mark's one year anniversary! Smiley Smiley

Ron, I still remember you coming into the ICU and taking a picture of me and Kevin and the ICU nurse Robert. Everytime I look at that picture I think of you and Lisa and Mark. I also remember how you and Lisa sat with me during Kevin's surgeries. I really miss you guys! Smiley

In retrospect, we have all been through a lot this past year and have had to endure things we never could have imagined. I believe we are stronger and better for the experience. After what Kevin went through, we have a saying "Any day above ground is a good day". Believe me when I say it keeps us humble.

I would really like to see you guys again. Perhaps we can work something out to hookup. Kevin and I are preparing to return to Stanford in the next month for check up. So you know the routine Smiley

Keep in touch and PM me when you get the chance.

Hugs Smiley

Lore
