Bad Couple of  Days ---- But Good news
Jan 19th, 2006 at 12:10pm

All,

Wow, the last two and half days have been horible. I've been having a few small TIA's. I am now waiting to hear back from my doctors.....I hate this illness.

Well, the good news...as you may remember, I have been having various insurance issues.....seeing that I am home "relaxing", I decided to once again search through my insurance companies data base for Neurosugeons....I've done this countless times with the doctors listed on this site with no luck....UNTIL TODAY, both Dr. Scott and Dr. Ogilvy are now part of my insurance plan.

I just called the both to get things rolliing and wouldn't you believe it both offices are closed for lunch (I guess they are allowed to eat, as it is 12:09).

I know that Dr. Scott does the EDAS (thanks Shari)...but does anyone know what MMD surgeries that Dr. Ogilvy does?

I'll keep you posted.
Greg

I was misdiagnosed with MM in March of 2005. In January 2006, I was told it is not MM, but rather a massive restriction in the MC1 segment of my left carotid artery.

Hi Greg,

I'm sorry to hear that the last couple of days have been not so good.  Hopefully the TIAs will cease, and you'll be back to normal (whatever that is!) soon.

Wish I could tell you more about Dr. Ogilvy.  Other than a listing indicating that MM is one of his clinical interests (very positive!), I couldn't find any info about the type(s) of surgery he does.  You should be able to find out pretty quickly via an email, though.

I have to ask:  By chance did Dr. Steinberg show up on your insurance database?  We'd love to have you out here . . . .

Hope you feel better soon,
Jill

Ohhhhhhhhhhh Greg.....this is such great news....about Dr. Scott and Dr. Ogilvy that is....not the TIA's.  I am refraining from jumping up and down at this point.  Please keep me posted on how things go.

And say hi to Olga for me.  You need to keep her around....she's a great person.  Smiley

I will keep saying prayers for you.  Smiley

Greg,

I'm happy to hear this news.  I know you have been waiting for a break.

Does Dr. Scott operate at another hospital besides Boston Children's?  I can't see you staying on the kids' floor!!

Greg:

I'm sorry to hear about your TIA's...all the more reason for urgency!  I'm glad your insurance is working out better and hope you get the best care in the world.  Keep us updated on your progress.

Tell Olga I said hi - she's a sweetheart (I'm sure you know that already Wink ).

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.  I'm going for a follow up with Dr. Marshall on the 30th so if you need anything from there, just give me a holler.

Greg,

So glad to hear the wonderful news about your insurance issues...I just received an email from a lady who has Kaiser Medical out here, but since she now receives SSDI, Kaiser is dropping her insurance!  She has been diagnosed with MM and is just in shambles...
Embarrassed  It's crazy that some are not able to receive the medical attention they need due to various insurance practices.  Undecided  I had suggested she send her films to Dr.'s Fukushima and Steinberg for their opinions a few months ago, and she told me that when she recently followed up with Kaiser, they still haven't sent them.  I highly recommended she obtain the films, etc., and mail them herself!

About your TIAs, oh boy...I pray that things get better for you, Greg.  What did your dr.'s tell you to do when you're having them?  Smiley  I'm just curious, if you don't mind me asking.

Hang in there, Greg.  We're all here for you and are keeping you in our prayers.  You've come a long way and are making great progress with your continued efforts.  Continue to be assertive.  You're on the right path and things are falling into place.  ;Grin

Take care,
Shan  Smiley

UndecidedHi Greg,  Sorry that you're not feeling well.  I went to Dr.Oglvy for a second opinion and found him to be brilliant but not quite the Personality of Dr. Connoly.  I believe that he also does EDAS type surgery.  But I'll look it up and re-post you.
Take care and keep Olga close,     Tom
