Hi all,
Sorry for the delayed update, I was away for a few days. Last week, I had my follow up with the doctors. As exected, they did confirm that it is NOT MM. Rather, there is an area of damage to the corotid artery (just past the circle of willis) that has caused the restriction and smaller size of the artery. The did say that there are two colateral vessels that are bypassing the damaged area and "feeding" the brain. (Sounds a little bit like MM to me).
As expected, they are now back into the conservative aproach. Last Friday, I sttarted taking Aggrenox twice per day (a combination of asprin and diyridamole) to keep the blood from clotting. Is any one else taking this? If so, what side effects, if any, are you having? So far, the first few days on the meds, I had terrible headaches.
The game plan is meds for up to six months, then back in for another CO2 Challenge Doplar to see if the meds are helping with the blood flow. If not, the doctors indicated that they will probably recommend having the EDAS.
They also have me keeping a journal to write down how I feel all day. Interestingly enough, Saturday and Sunday's entries were "felt normal for the first time in a few years"...
The good news is that I have not had any TIA's since leaving the hospitals. I've only had one short lived dizzy spell....and a couple of days of fatigue (most likely related to the work schedule).
I'll keep you posted, Greg
