Hi, Desdemona.
It's been a while since you posted your question, so you may have already solved your problem. I just wanted to give you some info, in case you're still working on it.
Dr. Scott performed the surgery on both of my daughters. Thankfully, we only live about an hour from the hospital. However, what I did notice while we're there, is that the hospital has a "host family" program - families that offer to have patient's families stay with them during treatment, for free. Also, while we were there, since both my husband and I needed to take unpaid time off from work, the social work department was actually able to pay a few of our bills (utilities, phone, etc). While this won't pay your insurance bill, it may help save you money in other ways. There may be other things they can do for you, too, - try calling the social work department and explain the situation.
We live in NH. If you end up coming to Boston, and would like to talk more, send me a PM, and I'll be happy to talk with you more!
Good Luck! Twins Mom
